How exciting for you. The housing market seems to be very over heated at the moment so I am not surprised you have a lot of interest. You have a great buffer so are in a great position to hold out for the best offer. We moved areas and the only downside is trying to view in the new area. We rented a cottage when the tourist season was over as we moved to the West Country and everything in the summer was so expensive. Hopefully you can do the same in Wales.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Morning!
It's the morning after the day before and I was absolutely exhausted last night. 25 house viewings over the past few days and its been really stressful even though the agent did the viewings and I just had to constantly tidy and clean the house! It was a whirlwind of comings and goings and worry but its over now thankfully, and the good news is that there's been 7 offers on the house so far and two of them are at the same price which is currently £20k over the initial asking price! After a night of thinking, I'm going to ask the agent to go back to these and ask for their final offer and then just go for it. One lives around the corner and wants the house for a family member and the other has children in the local school, so both are serious buyers. I'd rather get it all done and dusted as soon as possible so I can start to think about moving on. The current offers aren't far off the maximum that an identical house just up the street recently reached (which also has a lovely new kitchen, mine needs upgrading) so there's not a lot more leeway in it. There are more viewings booked for next weekend but I don't think they'll go for much more than what's already on the table and I don't want to lose the current offers. The current offers will probably creep up a little bit to secure the house and its leaving me in a much better financial position than I thought I would be. It was all doable before but this extra gives me even more security as the prices are cheaper where I'm going to and I'll have no mortgage on a new house and a sizeable chunk in the bank (plus all my savings) after all costs etc are paid.
Hopefully, we'll have a final offer accepted and a plan by mid week. Just want it sorted - can't believe that it only went on the market on Tuesday afternoon though!
So, its back to work tomorrow - the last half term of my teaching career - that feels strange but exciting at the same time. I know the next 6.5 weeks will fly by and be over before I know it if the last year is anything to go by. Weird to think that the next chapter is actually going to happen now. Its like the downhill slope now.....
Anyway, there's the usual Sunday things to do today - grocery shopping, a run, a big dog walk, washing (couldn't have laundry all over the house for the last few days!), some school work to get ready for the week ahead and some time to just chill out after the most stressful half term of my life!
Right, the dog is getting restless so it's time to get the trainers on and go for a trot somewhere!5 -
Run done (struggled a bit today, think its all caught up with me a bit), washing done, been to the supermarket so now have food that's not just dog food (!) and checked up on work stuff. Nothing much going on apart from the local authority have now made face masks in school for all at all times compulsory again. The dropping of masks lasted all of a week for us! I'm glad though as its needed in our area.
Also had a long soak in the bath, defuzzed, moisturised everything and done a face mask, dried my hair properly and sorted out my make up bag ready for the week ahead. I don't bother much when I'm not in work but I'm now way more tanned than I was (thank you sunny half term!) and I needed to find things that don't make me look like a clown with a tan! Feel a bit more like myself now - this week has been really hard work emotionally. Spoken to mum too - she's very excited about the move and likes all of the house updates - said it was better than the telly!
Will go for a nice long walk later with the dog to get a bit more exercise and fresh air. Its not sunny here today but still quite clammy but will be ok for the dog.
Had 2 more offers on the house since this morning too - neither betters the other top two bids yet but its nice to know that its popular at least - daft how you want others to like your house even though you don't want it anymore! Have asked the agent to move forward with contacting the buyers to ask for final offers so hopefully there will be some sort of update tomorrow.
Its nice to just have a quieter day with no commitments to relax a little bit. This week has been hardcore!2 -

I love your thread I m only currently in my 12th year of teaching but can’t wait to say one day that ‘I QUIT’ teaching does take over your live isn’t it. What everyone around me sees are only all the holidays we get but don’t see the extra preparations we put in for every day of teaching.Which age groups do you teach ?Saving goal for BTL mortgage - 28600 / 60000 ( July 2021) , 37600/60000 (December 2021) , 39300 / 60000 (august 2022) , 41000/60000 ( January 2023)2

Thank you all for your messages!
Loveactually - I teach 11-16 currently but have taught 6th form previously. Its been a proper slog this year..... What about you?
The offers on the house are still creeping upwards - the deadline for final offers is tomorrow morning. I'll make the decision then as there are a couple for the same amount and if I can choose I'd prefer it to go to a family rather than an investor.
More news though.... did a lateral flow test this morning as I was going back to work and, lo and behold, a very faint positive line on it! Told work and sent them a photo to see what they thought and they sent me off for a PCR test. Managed to arrange one straight away and had it done by 9.30 this morning. Will just have to wait and see what it comes back with now ..... It should be back by tomorrow, fingers crossed. No idea where that's come from if I am positive - feel absolutely fine and haven't been anywhere much apart from the hairdressers last week. Saw a friend on Friday but it was in her garden - didn't even go in to use the loo! Really annoying... I've just had one vaccine dose and the next is due in 3 weeks time - grrrrr!!!
Hopefully, I'll stay feeling fine, just a bit of a muzzy head but with the menopause that's pretty much par for the course for me!
So, I'm stranded working from home for now - at least the dog walker is still taking the dog for a big run at lunchtimes so he'll get a run out with his mates although he won't like being stuck in the garden or house for the rest of the time.....

If you do have it, could it have possibly have come from the viewings? People touching doorknobs and running hands over counter tops. Lets hope it was a false positive.

Mumblingtaff - I hope you are ok and remain without any COVID side effects. Apparently 2 doses of the vaccine are much better against the new variants so there is greater risk between the doses. I think that's why they've been accelerating the timetable for the 2nd doses.2
