If you have court documents, reply with a defence if you haven't done so already.
If you are not familiar with Small Claims, just follow procedures

"This really shouldn’t happen as part of the transfer of supply process is the transfer of historic usage data between data collectors."

Some of us know this doesn't always happen - see my thread 'Ebico Living - Avoid'

I confess that I have no idea how historic data is passed to White Label suppliers. Ebico is a not AFAIK a registered supplier. It ‘piggy backs’ on to a company that is a supplier which will have its own data collector.

  • Here are Symbios estimated readings.
Sadly Ive spoken to them several times on the phone, and they say the only way forward is to pay the estimated bill.
  • Thank you for all the support.

This may be of interest to some of you - Open Letter to Energy Suppliers - which appears to be a {very poor} veiled threat to 'to the line':

"..energy suppliers and insolvency practitioners who are dealing with domestic and microbusiness consumers when undertaking charge recovery action such as billing or setting direct debit levels, as set out in Standard Licence Condition of supply 21BA.."

From what we have read above, it appears to me Symbio may well be in breach of their Operating Licence. I give the link to the letter when I find it !

    Here are Symbios estimated readings.
Sadly Ive spoken to them several times on the phone, and they say the only way forward is to pay the estimated bill.
Where has the customer reading of 10543.2 on the 3rd April come from? If it is wrong, then provide them with a meter reading and remind them that under Standard Licence Conditions they are required to use this reading for billing purposes?

Condition 21B. Billing based on meter readings
21B.1 If a Customer provides a meter reading to the licensee that the licensee considers reasonably accurate, or if the Electricity Meter is read by the licensee, the licensee must take all reasonable steps to reflect the meter reading in the next Bill or statement of account sent to the Customer.
21B.2 If the licensee considers that a meter reading provided by a Customer is not reasonably accurate, the licensee must take all reasonable steps to contact the Customer to obtain a new meter reading from him.

This isn't an example of the opening and or subsequent meter readings being wrongly read or submitted is it?.

OP,if you have them post the meter pictures, that might help get to the bottom of this.

Although they won't be able to tell you because of data protection gumpf,Symbio should have access to the last accurate meter reading from the previous person,if they were provided with it before you.

If those figures are vastly different then they should flag up as being potentially wrong, though we are talking about Symbio here who have regular and repeated form for messing up even the most simple issues.

Symbio are claiming that they have a Customer reading of 105043 on 3 April.
The OP claims a reading of 103391 on 7 April.
Unless the meter is going backwards, one of those readings must be wrong.
As previously suggested, a photo of the current meter reading may help to make things clearer.
  • Most suppliers will put a stop to Court Action if the issue is sitting with The Energy Ombudsman for adjudication. I am still struggling to understand why this matter has got so far so quickly. What is all this talk about a Final Bill? How long has the OP actually lived in this property and has he/she moved out?

Personally, I very much doubt that Symbio will take this claim to Court until it has received an EO Decision. If the Decision is in the supplier’s favour, then the complainant would be silly not to pay up. If the Decision is in the complainant’s favour, then the supplier will not succeed when it reaches a Court.
