What is there in the template defence that isn’t understandable?

When a document has lots of words, as long as they are in plain English they are understandable to anyone who carefully reads the document.  Please tell us what is hard to understand.

You already know how to download a DQ because the instructions in the template defence thread tell you.

I will try to, I am not the best at English (as people have pointed out in this thread :) ) and it has a lot of legal terms I don't always understand.

When filling out the DQ, do i really want to give my everyday mobile number and email ?
I would if it was just going to the CCBC, but I also need to send this to QDR and I do not want QDR having my personal details.

Or Google. Or use a dictionary.

In other words, do what we've always had to do when we don't know something - research and learn. (These days of the Internet make such research far easier). :)

not sure how wikipedia could help?

It explains  in plain language most legal terms.  Here is an example

You don’t have to supply a phone number so leave that blank but you DO want to give the solicitors an email address, because when it later comes to exchange of WS and evidence(which you know is an important stage, and you must be ready to do your WS) it’s far easier if you see their WS by email and not a foot high pile of paperwork in the post.

Now that would be unmanageable to read!

    Hi All,

Thanks for your help so far.

I now have a date from the court - 2nd November. It dosen't mention anything about requiring a witness statement.

This Claim is allocated to the Small Claims Track and is a telephone hearing.

What do I need to do to be ready for the hearing?

Does it give you a date by which anything you want to rely on in court must be submitted?  This will be your witness statement and summary cost assessment.

NEWBIES thread ... there a link to a guide to court, and a multi-step process for you to follow.

The order won't specifically say Witness Statement - it'll say something along the lines of Documents upon which you rely and state a deadline by which these must be filed with the court and served on the other party. This is your WS + evidence + summary costs assessment .. all explained in the NEWBIES.

There's also a Telephone Hearing thread that C-m created - please find and read it.
