Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Special buy at Aldi: Quixo Peppercorn Sauce and Curry Sauce - 85p.
These are sauces in the same style as gravy granules, and made up in the same way. Not seen anything like this as a branded product before. The Peppercorn variety was quite nice though I think that the ratio of granules to water is probably critical.1 -
As well as preferring the Lidl potato waffles, the curly fries are delicious. Considering they are not seasoned chips they are lovely. I think it must be the quality of the crispy coating.1

Bought a tin of Aldi kidney beans, the cheapest ones, but they were very poor quality. Maybe I somehow picked a really old tin up. The beans were stuck to the bottom of the tin and were overcooked so they fell to bits as I had to gouge them out with a spoon. Won't be buying them again.1

Lidl - Was lucky to score an whole organic for £2 the other day ... roast for Sunday and soup on the Monday.
Complained to lidl about some drumsticks I bought that went off way before use by date. I won't buy chicken from there unless I'm going to use it the same day or freeze it because its not the first time it happened. Complained and they sent me vouchers which was good.1 -
If you have anything that you consider a 'bad buy' like the kidney beans as mentioned above just take the till receipt & empty pack back to Aldi for a refund.
In the past I have different veg that haven't kept until bb date and taken them back- no problem either replaced or refunded without a quibble.
Even if it's less than 50 pence better in my pocket than theirs!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Aldi moved from codes to dates some time ago. Now they seem, in common with other SMs, to be moving to no dates.2

I bought a bag of peppers in Aldi this morning. Definitely no date on it. I assume this is a move to join with other SMs, unlikely to be an error.1

Aldi announced in September their intention to move away from BB dates on fresh fruit and veg. As you say @maman it brings them in line with other supermarkets.1
