Did I get an unusual bad experience?
I have shopped on both Lidle and Aldi. Each tome the fruit and get I bought was inedible in a few days. In fact, I bought some strawberries on Friday afternoon. By Saturday afternoon they had gone to mush. The only thing they were usable for was making a smoothy or coulis.
Is this normal?1 -

Yes that’s about normal in my experience I’ve said before on here I once heard a guy say to the checkout girl I hope this fruit makes it to the car without going off this time.

Another few bargains at Lidl this week 3, 1Kg gammon joints at 70% off and two gammon slices at 30% off plus 4 quarter pound burgers 70% off. The three joint I got for less than the price of one ££1.65 each compared to £5.49 each and the burgers were just 69p.Someone please tell me what money is1

Another haul of reduced goods two * 6 Cumberland sausages 70% off, 68p each, 2Kg, 2 * 1Kg of chicken drumsticks £1.68 each 30% off. There was two other items but my freezer is full so I left them on the shelf.

It's getting rarer to find the reduced items now, I think I might visit Lidl on a Sunday to see if there are more reduced items on that day. Even the bread, which less than 12 months ago used to be reduced in abundance is rarely reduced now due to the stock availability.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
My lidl is very mean with reduced prices, it's often only a few pence off. I lifted a reduced gammon the other day, but they'd only taken 20p off the full price!
The cynic in me says they don't need to reduce too much cos some people will lift anything they see with an orange sticker on it.....
There are definitely fewer reduced items though.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0 -
The discounts in Lidl tend to be pot luck sometimes especially with fresh things like bread.Bread I used to be able to get for 20p is a rare sight now (30% off is still relatively common, but not as common as it was)The end of life ready meals they still knock out for 70p and I usually buy these (I don't mind 70p, but I've never bought these full price as they're like best part of £2, so I've usually had them at 30% off) whatever they are - good for freezing. Same for bacon, which is quite often reduced in price, and also milk (its usually red top milk that gets discounted first - I don't normally drink it (prefer green or blue top) but a discount is a discount!)The sourdough pizzas they do for like £4 at full price are quite often reduced to 70p, and they're a no brainer at that price, as they are quite nice.Never had a problem with fresh stuff going off though, though my local doesn't have a lot of stuff/items some other stores do, however I'm aware its due to be expanded at some point over two sites so maybe that will fix itself in due course.0

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I've only just discovered that some of Lidl's Strathvale brand chicken (sold in Scotland) is considerably cheaper than their Birchwood brand chicken (sold in England). Does anyone know why? It seems weird to me since it's all UK red tractor produce. Chicken thighs for example, 1 kg, £2.29 (England) compared to £1.65 (Scotland) or Diced breast 400g, £2.99 to £2.35. Are these the actual prices or is the website just wrong?

I think it's just that the prices on the website are out of date, and the Scottish prices more so. £1.65 was the price for 1kg chicken thighs for a long time, but they've increased in increments over the last year and were £2.59 when I bought them earlier this week (in Scotland).

Red tractor logo means nothing! Its the bare minimum legal standard for British animals/meat."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0
