Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Life is just too short to soak and boil pulses! The exception might be in the winter when there are secondary heating benefits to be had.Brie said:
Work it out based on how much your time is worth. If you can do it in 5 seconds and leave it cooking and then drain it 2 hours later for another 5 seconds maybe it's worth it. If you have to get up every 10 minutes to check on it then no it isn't.Hydromel said:Lidl's Red Kidney beans starting to inch up again, now 33p up from 30p previous...
i always feel like i should be buying the bigger bags of dried beans elsewhere, but they require both hours of soaking and cooking, which feels less than economical these days with the energy prices, not that i've done the maths
National minimum wage = ?? £10/hour? Each minute is worth 17p to save 3p on a tin. Nope. Buy the tins.
I nipped into Lidl yesterday at around 1pm and again the ice-cream cabinets were bare. No cake on the shelves either, although the cost of it means its been now been relegated to treat status rather than a regular addition to my basket.
I'm not it the least bit tempted by the strawberries at Aldi or Lidl, they are far too expensive compared to Tesco. I bought 1kg crate from Tesco for £3 yesterday and shared them with my family, plenty for everyone and they are absolutely delicious without adornment. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I tend to buy the Wonky berries in Aldi, if they look okay.
I have some Wonky Raspberries at the moment, which were perfect (probably just slightly too large a size variation for top quality). Taste great and they were £1.24 / 225g. Similarly the Strawberries and Blueberries (£1.29 and 99p respectively).1 -
You can't beat £3/kg retail. PYO is far pricier although there is no comparison with the experience.Cornucopia said:I tend to buy the Wonky berries in Aldi, if they look okay.

I like a couple of the local PYO but won't be doing so in this heat. I do occasionally buy from them (already picked) and the price difference isn't massive. It's just if I fancy having a stroll in the sunshine - which I don't this week!! The best advantage though is that they sometimes have loganberries which I love.Rosa_Damascena said:

I did exactly that besides the faff of soaking and cooking them etc I just don’t like them anywhere near as much as canned beans.Hydromel said:Lidl's Red Kidney beans starting to inch up again, now 33p up from 30p previous...

No leaflet in store last week when I called in. However I visited store today and picked up both the current leaflet (18th-24th Aug) and next weeks' (25th - 31st Aug) and was shocked to see no weekend offers Fri 19th or Fri 26th. Could it be all offers are geared up to customers who use the app?rhcp said:Looking at the Lidl online leaflets and there are no weekend offers next weekend.1 -
Popped into lidl today and cheese is now £2.49! Everytime I go in it seems to go up in price. £1.79 not long ago.

Aldi 200g "Essentials" Cheddar Cheese slices - just gone up from 99p to £1.09
Aldi 100g Grated/Shaved Parmesan - £1.39
Most other Aldi grated cheese is £1.99/250g, and blocks are mostly £2.39/400g.1 -
I opened a block of cheese in the early hours for the first time in 6 weeks (a personal record). I can't see me snacking on it as before given the prices are now crazy, all the more reason to stock up when it's on offer. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
