The lidl value porridge seems to have disappeared as well now, so I had buy the Scottish porridge, which was 14p dearer.  Interesting to see what that is like.

I'd be interested to hear what you think.  And are you using it for cooked porridge or something else?  Must admit I use porridge oats for crumbles, cold cereal (birchler mueseli) as well as in things like muffins.  Lately I've been using rye flakes instead (organic from small health food shop) so much more expensive but also much higher in fibre and with a nice nutty taste.  Need to be treated a bit differently though, longer soaking or cooking etc.

I really enjoy the Aldi 75p basic porridge oats. I have a couple of bags in my store cupboard as oats were difficult to come by at the start of Covid so now I always try to have spare. I wouldn't want to switch to another brand but will be interested in reviews from others.

I just use it for basic porridge for breakfast.  I've still to finish my asda porridge, which is a bit 'dusty', not the best!

Lidl will have been making less money off me in recent times. Not because I don't want to spend there, but because a lot of things I want to buy they regularly don't have in stock. I see more empty shelves and freezers there than any of the other supermarkets in my area.

Me too - but only because of the YS to be had elsewhere (a small benefit of finishing work late).

It appears we've got a plague of locusts in the area.  That's the only way I can account for the way things look at Lidl today.  Almost the entire cheese/milk/dessert section empty.  No chilled juice (except for the stuff they sell at £2+ a litre).  No cold meat, ready meals, pizzas.

And no butter - on a day I was needing some for baking!!!

OK - another small lie - they did have butter.  125g buffalo butter for 99p.  I'd noticed these in the weekly email so knew to look out for them in the special Italian section.  Got 2 as we're having a baguette with our grilled tuna steaks this evening and croissants for the morning.  I've some on a plate ready for later and tried a tiny bit - marvellous!!!  Have put it in the fridge for now as it looks like it will soften exceedingly quickly.

I was thinking it was a bit expensive (normally pay about £1.50 for 250g of their good farm butter) but having to stop at Tescos to get some ordinary butter to bake with I found that most of theirs was above £2 for 250g, so the buffalo stuff is actually cheaper!!!
