I’m quite fussy about getting pastries in terms of needing to not be overcooked, dry looking etc and find these days a lot of the supermarket bakery ones fall short…solution was the bake your own ones for pain au raisin in particular so can cook to exactly how I want them….been having the Waitrose ones for a while now which are really nice and better than any of the supermarket ones imo but think Aldi does them too (not sure about Lidl) so will give a try at some stage. Bake your own croissants and pain au chocolat also good.

The Lidl close to the food bank where I used to work would save their leftovers which we would pick up the next morning for distribution. Most of them were still quite nice though some things did suffer due to being piled up in a box. Didn't help that sometimes there'd be iced donuts piled in with pizza slices. If something looked dire it would be chucked out but generally things would be bagged up - i.e. 6 croissants together or a mix of croissants and pain au chocolat. The bread was always popular.

Given the volume they gave us I always assumed they baked more than they knew they would sell on purpose. I don't think it was company policy as the Lidl near me always managed to sell out most of their baked goods about an hour before closing.

Lidl now has a Deluxe Colombian coffee ice-cream, which I haven't yet bought it as it would melt on the walk home! Has anyone tried it?

Its the tub that mimics Haagen-Dasz for £2.69, not the small tubs for £1.49 (they had both when I popped in earlier). Do not get confused!

Mentioned elsewhere that Lidl has air fryers this week for £79.99. Phillips brand.

I use to buy Aldi's Carlos sweet chilli chicken pizza, good size plenty of toppings. Went out of stock in my local for ages that I spotted looking for it. Saw it again the other day and had it last night. Not only have the shrunk it by at least 20% there were hardly any toppings, a major disappointment.

Funny you say that - I bought one from a chazzer the other day at less than half the price and am very content with it, I think I have 3 in total now. They stay put in designated rooms, the ability to work comfortably and ergonomically from elsewhere in the house is well worth a couple of quid.

ETA: the Tronic one looks like a dodgy set of skis. Mine are this design (albeit not the brand) and look like a threat from War of The Worlds, but they do the job:
