Just an off-topic tip if anyone's looking for decentish mince pies - Tesco Finest are 'half price' at the moment. £1.50 instead of £3. Cheaper than the Aldi equivalent for a change!5

Has anyone seen bags of Puy lentils in either Aldi / Lidl? (Not the Merchant pouches). No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -

Heads up, for those looking for an alternative to Christmas Cake and heavy Yule logs this Christmas, Aldi have two frozen gateau which are cake with filling covered with mousse at £2.89 each, claims to be 8 portion but 4 or 5 generous portions more like it, page 41 of the Christmas food catalogue refers...yummy, based on our already devouring one choco version😁7

Thanks @harz99, I've been drooling my way through the Christmas food catalogue this morning 😁3

Abstinence for me - once a Christmas staple, as of 2023 the decent ones became too pricey (I think I bought 2 packs of brown butter ones from Waitrose and that was it, a marked departure from my December diet of mince pies and Baileys!). Then last year I just went off them which is just as well because they are a big luxury now.HouseMartin567 said:My favourite non-traditional mince pies are back in Aldi: caramelised apple crumble, and Millionaire’s crumble.
If I recall correctly, last year they were £2.50 for 6 (41.6p each). Now they are £2.29 for 4 (57.2p each). A 37.5% increase is galling. Not galling enough to invoke abstinence, but enough to limit my intake - so not necessarily a bad thing!
Speaking of delicious desserts, I am so pleased to see this in Aldi - much better value than Waitrose:
Thanks for saving me a search for Puy lentils @Brie!

@HouseMartin567 do these have the usual dried fruit mince pie filling as well or are they just mini apple crumble pies? If the latter, I’ll definitely pick some up. Neither of us really likes heaps of dried fruit and we tend to swerve Christmas puddings, mince pies, fruit cakes, etc.HouseMartin567 said:My favourite non-traditional mince pies are back in Aldi: caramelised apple crumble, and Millionaire’s crumble.

Like Brie I love a coffee ice cream so thanks for the spot. Farmfoods do a nice Cappuccino ice cream in their premium range but I don’t go there very often.Rosa_Damascena said:

If I recall correctly there is a small amount of mince pie filling but the overriding flavour is the caramelised apple. I will pick up a box with my weekend shopping and report back.JingsMyBucket said:
