After our Aldi had a refurb a few months ago, I've only today noticed that the price labels on the shelves are little electronic screens!!! 😲

One was on the blink, literally, and was flickering.
It must be so much easier to update prices, special offers and out of stock, than card labels.

    Can't believe I only just noticed 🤣😁
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

So presumably prices could go up between when you pick something off the shelf and get to the till to pay.  It would be nice to know if places only do updates over night when the shop is closed or during the day when the shop is full.

According to Aldi's response to a complaint that they were altering during the day they are only supposed to alter overnight.  Except in the case an update fails overnight or human error.

More worryingly they stated they don't use surge pricing - which say's to me they are aware of the concept and have though about it .  Might need your running shoes next heatwave or panic buy season to get to the checkout quick.

Although when I've seen surge pricing mentioned before with electronic price labels, the suggestions been you'd use something like the scanners available in Tesco and Sainsburys and the price you scanned would be the one you paid.

Wonky onions seem to be no longer available in Aldi.  There were always good for a single person as the they were small and cheap.

Yes, the "tins" (plastic tubs) of Quality Street, Heroes, Celebrations and Roses are in Tesco now.

£4 with a Clubcard (£5 without) but there's no need to stock up immediately as the offer runs until 3rd October.
But what size are they ?
Have they shrunk yet again ?

Just they come in So Handy for an easy portable Thankyou, taking the sting out of a fire drill, for generally enlivening rather dull puddings. Oh yes and as playing counters (although freezing them first does mean they last longer through the game.)
Also for simple negotiation - you take the pills, I'll leave the lid off. (Just Hide the Evidence, or the deal is strictly this one time only.) Or is it only parents who stoop thus?

It's all on the tesco website.  Quality street is 600g.

They do, but none of them are tasty any more.

Which won't stop me from buying them for other people btw.

So much to read, so little time.
  • I actually came to this thread to say I bought some v small tubs of ice cream that looked interesting this afternoon. At 2 for £3 they are a comparable price to an ice cream on a stick:

DH has just opened a new box of Aldi's Harvest Morn Bran Flakes, which he's been buying for years.

They're in a bigger box, and don't say New Recipe or anything, but he says they are horrible!!

On checking the label, they've reduced the sugar (what little there was) and they now resemble 'chewy cardboard' (his words).

Which is the best email to contact Aldi about this sort of thing.   We're not bothered about a refund
