Yes, they're borderline £400k or right now are in that region, but my parents usually end up helping me to cover those tiny ones... Iv'e never bought a house at asking price either. I can't remember the first one how much was the discount, but the second one was 10% and this one we're living in was 5%.

UnderOffer said:Pre COVID we viewed a house a few doors away from us, however we were not on market. The vendors kindly allowed us to view, we expressed interest then listed our own home, the whole time I kept their EA informed that as soon as we had an offer, we would offer on theirs, we were not viewing anything else and if it sold we’d withdraw our own property from market. Thankfully after 2 weeks we received offer and we were then proceedable and were able to negotiate on the house we wanted. All in all it worked out great, but I was very much of the attitude of “what will be, will be”, so tried not to get too attached to the new place or worry about ours selling.
Our house was under offer - arranged a viewing - our buyer then pulled out - we proceeded with the viewing (at the advice of our selling EA) - went back the next day and said "want to offer but not proceedable", EA agreed to keep us informed. Week or so later things not progressing with our sale as a much as we'd like and they accepted another offer.
Fast forward a week or two, a second offer received on our house - arranged more viewings -new buyer also pulled out, this time they got cold feet before a memorandum of sale had even been issued by the EA - we went back to EA and again said "want to offer but not proceedable". Two days later, new offer accepted our on house, offered on our purchase same day, offer also accepted!
Stressful isn't the word! Although we also took the same "what will be will be" approach.2 -

However, some villages, especially the old fishing villages with property built near the sea but inaccessible by car - they go like hot cakes!0 -
Yeah this isn't a fishing village. Well after a chat we know more or less what the owner will accept. He's in no rush, which I think long run will benefit us.0
