Estate Agent possibly ignoring me.

Hi all,
7 days ago viewed a fairly suitable property and immediately after viewing submitted my offer via phone, email & letter (my offer is asking price & 5%).
7 days on and still waiting for the EA to get back to me, have phoned (they say the will get back to me) & emailed  the EA nearly every day.

Just to mention the EA  cancelled my viewing 5 minutes before the agreed view time, was outside and all ready. The EA spoke to the vendor and the vendors agreed i can view the property without the agent.
The delightful vendors are down sizing into a mcarthy&stone property which they have already purchased, i did mention i will offer over the asking price,

Is there anything i can do to get the EA to reply to me ?  Should i inform the vendors?
Its a UK property.

Thanks for your time.

If you got on well with the vendors, you could pop round and check that your offer has been passed on to them.

They’re probably conducting more viewings and hoping for more offers

Not the EA that's ignoring you. It's the vendors that are taking their time to consider their options. Probably waiting the outcome of more viewings.

Yes the EA is being rude and ignoring you. What can you do? Best bet is to go around to the vendors and explain you’ve put an offer in but yet to have a response.

That's just telling them something that they already know.

Well... it might be but the OP can't know that if the EA hasn't come back to them. It only takes a brief email doesn't it, to confirm the vendor is still considering offers (or whatever). I'd be annoyed if I'd waited a week with no update.
  • I would suspect they may have more viewings booked in and want to see if they can get an offer higher than yours. I don’t know why they don’t just tell you that, or maybe the vendors have accepted an offer and are waiting for proof of funds or something before saying it’s under offer.
I know I was trying to secure a viewing on a property for over a week, left messages, sent emails, no response.  I eventually spoke to the EA who told me the property is SSTC but they are leaving it online for ‘exposure’.
If you are local you could put a note through the door and say you haven’t heard back. If you still hear nothing, then you have done all you can.

Yes it is but it’s polite and a good sales method to communicate with potential buyers, whatever your selling.

A simple 30s phone call or brief email doesn’t take long to update.

It all comes down to basic manner which are lacking in this case
