You lot are PURE GOLD ! I almost said to her to buy it...So I'll tell her to buy the specifications I was given here.
Thank you to each and everyone of you, equally.
Erm...no. It's not as simple as that. What is her budget? If she is looking at a device at a budget of £230; she is not going to get a late i5.

So let's calm down a little bit and find out what she can spend. If only £230, then she should look  at refurbished.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174756315745 is an example of a high quality business class device; but of course no after sales support.

One can purchase refurbished with a full one year warranty direct from DELL for £300 if she would prefer to go that route:

That is what most people would consider an entry level device nowadays. Best to not dip below unless it's for a five year old.

All depends on what she can afford. If just £230, then we'll see what we can find.

What I know is that it was £269 but I'm going to read her your reviews and then I have the idea she will not buy it. I mean she's on my age bracket, so I find difficult to think she's going for gaming and what have you...Just Facebook, still does not have an Instagram account and just would like to get into comping. No Science rocket but easy. We are mostly people that at our age like going to theatre and ballet or any live entertainment...and I told her that sometimes we can get cheaper tickets. She was doing things in libraries but now she feels she can have her own laptop.
Now,I was given a link for my laptop and it worked wonders I found something cheap and it works. Would you know how to lead me to help her? She lives far away from me but we still have landlines.
Thank you again. I thought you people would have given me up by now but you still insist  o:) THANK YOU !
Thanks to those who help us to win !

You are flipping angel ! ;) I'll have a talk with her...Of course she would prefer support but I don't have it and nothing has gone wrong, the only ugly thing is that she and, myself too, have been done in by ebay bargains and we want to avoid the pain that implies returns, etc...
    THANK YOU !

If she was happy to spend £269 on the frankly awful laptop, then £300 or thereabouts for this one: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78321882/#Comment_78321882 is a huge step up.
    https://www.dell.com/learn/uk/en/ukdfh1/campaigns/first-time-customer-dell-outlet-uk
Good screen and a more than adequate specification. Might even get into the whole YouTube thing like my mum. Finds all kinds of interesting films and music there.
Call them for the discount code if you cannot wait for an email reply.

Then go here to take a look: https://outlet.euro.dell.com/Online/InventorySearch.aspx?brandid=7&c=uk&cs=ukdfh1&l=en&s=dfh&frid=125 and change the dropdown from Best Results to Lowest Price

Dell also give the option to extend the warranty when you buy(lil bit expensive):
1 Year Collect and Return Service Included in price
    2 Year Collect and Return Service+ £42.29
    3 Year Collect and Return Service+ £68.74
    4 Year Collect and Return Service+ £109.97
1 Year Premium Support and Onsite Service+ £52.86

    Found the device in question:
    https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/laptops/inspiron-15-3000/spd/inspiron-15-3502-laptop/cn30203sc?view=configurations

Poor processor, poor screen, half the RAM and half the storage of the device in the posts above, for the sake of paying around £35 more.. Both direct from DELL. It's a no-brainer as they say.

I mean...WOW ! You are a detective to the nines. That's exactly the screen she showed me, how did you get it ?
I have to go through the whole thing myself... before I open my mouth. In any case I spoke to her briefly and like my friend in Toronto, when you helped me with Paypal,  she said the same thing,  I should be proud to have you as "internet friends". Just give me the time to "absorb" all the info but be sure you will all go to Heaven hands down ! Hopefully I'll understand and be able to report accurately. I will get back to you asap.

It really depends on what your friend needs it for. I have a 10 year old Samsung with an SSD fitted and it's perfectly fine for everyday tasks and surfing the web.

Does she even need one at all? I find I'm increasingly using my iPad which I can simply pick up rather than get the laptop out. (Other tablets are available.)

But take a look at the second from the left at £348 (minus the 10% first time customer discount), as it has a backlit keyboard. Might be a useful thing.

Of course if she doesn't want to spend as much as £312, we can always look at a second user business quality device within budget, like the one posted earlier.
