Now we are in May have most people switched their central heating off?

I see little point in sitting in a cold house. Central heating is on 24x7 365 days of the year. The thermostat does the rest.1

Yes, another vote for letting the stat decideOld enough to know better...........1

We have a Hive system too - maybe its a silly old habit but usually closer to summer i just crank it down to 12 or something so it never comes on! So not technically off
Interesting that most people still have the heating coming on then.0 -
My heating is off for about 10 months of the year, pre covid I had my hot water off most of the time as I showered at the gym0

There's an obvious case for turning the heating off at a certain point so as to avoid heating the house on chilly mornings when the sun will then make it too hot a bit later. You just have to decide at what point you're willing to sacrifice a bit of warmth to avoid wasting energy.
I've not reached that point yet, my heating has just kicked in as it's set to 17.5 degrees from 8am and uses some kind of predictive algorithm to get up to temperature for the set time. When the weather is warmer, I'll probably set the target temperature to 16 degrees so that it only kicks in in extreme cases.

I live in Cambridgeshire and at 7:30 this morning it was 4 degrees outside why would I trun off my heating.
We had hard frosts every morning last week, it's was chucking it with rain yeaterday and blowing a hooley so the heating comes on when it needs to and the controls turn it down when it's warm enough and it does it 365 days a year.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
A year ago I purchased a tenement built in 1910, East Scotland, heating has only been on twice since February.
I grew up in England with a gas fire in one room of the house and single glazing. I was taught to add extra layers and a hot water bottle at night, kept that up ever since, even living in places without working gas fires.
It's approaching nearly 5 years since I moved up, living in places with DG and CGH (didn't work in the first rental flat), it has to be pretty cold for me to switch it on and my windows are open most days.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
I can never understand this English obsession with seasonal heating 'on-off'. Leave it on and use the 'stat. That's what it's there for. Hot in January-it goes off. Cold in August-it comes on.No free lunch, and no free laptop5

I find I need it warmer in the evening and least warm first thing. I also find I need it less warm inside when the weather is warmer outside. The difference is only ever 1 or 2 degrees but I program my thermostat accordingly.Reed0

Good god, no.
My dog would never forgive me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2
