Anglian Windows

Hello, looking for some advice please!
My partner and I are first time buyers and we wanted new windows for the house as they are very draughty and made of wood .
We made an enquiry with Anglian Windows and we were talked into signing a contract on the same day. I know we were silly at the time but we thought it was a good deal. We have more time to think and we have cancelled the contract.
Because it's been more than 7 days, they are now staying we owe them 25% of the quote given. Can they do this? It's in the contract but I'm just not sure if we can avoid it or not. My dad has said not to pay it but I don't want to get into trouble, etc.
If anyone else has had this experience, please let me know.

Do you have Legal Protection on your house insurance? Good. Call them up for advice - they'll tell you what to do.1

If this was a distance sale or a sale at your own home, you have a 14 day cooling-off period to cancel the contract, as long as they haven't already performed any work agreed in the contract.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -

Hi all, thanks for your comments and apologies on the delay in replying. I didn't get notified of any comments.
It was all over a video call / phone call and I did feel pressured as I was by myself. They're literally done nothing yet, no surveyors have been round or anything yet they still want £1500!0 -

And you certainly shouldn't (couldn't) agree verbally to a contract without sight of the small print. Her courage will change the world.

Have you put cancellation to them in writing ?
Are you still within 14 days cooling of period ?
Do it in writing quick !0 -
As above, you have 14 days cooling off by law! For exactly this reason.Even over 14 days, if they haven't even measured, they can't have incurred a loss.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
