    That's a shame that your pal can't do the cinema but at least you were able to get a refund.

    With an hour and a half delay I should think a snickers bar was much needed!

  • Good going on the loss, I usually put that on per week away.
  • Thanks @beanielou and @redofromstart. 😀

    @EssexHebridean - yes I needed that Snickers bar!  Was fed up with all the waiting!🤣

    This morning I gave the kitchen, bathroom and hall a good going over and out put another load of washing on. Everything was so dusty!

    I had a nail appointment today as my they needed doing after three weeks. So I now have nice pale pink nails instead of festive pink muted sparkly nails!💅🏻

    Finished my Vogue book in the afternoon - it was very interesting and I really enjoyed it.

    Diet wise I had the same as yesterday apart from just fresh fruit for dessert - banana, apple and two satsumas.

    I fancied watching a film this evening so downloaded one from iTunes via my Apple TV box. Dived back into the 1970s for this one - Marathon Man. I hadn't seen it in years so I'd forgotten quite a bit of it apart from the awful dentistry bit!🦷

    Spends were:
    • Payment for nails;
    • DSis texted to say that she had bought the tickets for The King and I at the end of February so I transferred my share over to her;
    • £3.49 for the iTunes film rental.

    Well done on the weight loss. Are you doing it on line or visiting a group?
    Bet it seems very quiet back at home after having ‘the bears’ with you. Bet they’re missing you

    @Onebrokelady - it was when the drill came out that really made me wince!🫣

    @milann - I signed up for a SW year online last year which is still running.  I was thinking of joining my local group and switching over the membership, but I think I'll continue online for a bit and see how I get along. Home is a lot quieter without the Bears. DD's OH texted to say it was well below freezing up there yesterday morning but both Bears were outside quite happily chewing their bones after their walk and then went off to sleep on their sides for a while! They really do appreciate the cold weather!😀🐻

    It started off very sunny and cold this morning in Seasideville, but then clouded over later.

    I went back to the gym and had the PT put me through my paces. I let the sessions drop a bit before Christmas as I lost my mojo. The PT suggested I cut the sessions down to half an hour instead of an hour so I did this for a couple of times before I went away and continued on today.  We just took it easy on the stepper and ski machine and did some chest and back machines and stretches. I do want to get back into the gym as I feel so much better afterwards although I can't say I ever look forward to it!

    On my way back I picked up some more mushrooms from the greengrocer - he does tend to be dearer than the supermarket but his produce is good and I like to support local businesses whenever I can. When I first moved down here we had three greengrocers within walking distance of my home, now we're down to one. Sign of the times. The two that closed are restaurants now. ☹️

    I bought another B12 spray at the health food shop as I had run out and picked up my new Uniqlo sweatshirt and joggers at our local Evri ParcelShop. They're very nice - really warm and a nice cream colour.

    And I've started watching 'The Serial Killer's Wife' on Paramount+. Quite a good psychological thriller.

    Spends today were:
    • The mushrooms, B12 spray and PT session;
    • I also paid £87.40 to HMRC in respect of an underpayment for 2022-2023. Some weeks ago I contacted them to ask if I could stop submitting yearly self assessment forms as I'm now on basic rate tax with no company bonus payments or benefits in kind. They said I would have to do it for the 2022-2023 year and then it would be cancelled going forward. Then today I've received a letter from them (actually two of the same letters!) confirming I won't have to submit the self-assessment this year after all (it was dated 21 December!). But I also received an online message telling me they've worked my tax out and I've underpaid £84.07. I did my own calculations - they're off by a couple of pounds but I've decided to pay it.

    YESTERDAY
    Cold and grey day.
    Yesterday I did the rest of the weekly clean and washed and dried the towels, tea towels, dish cloths and wash flannels as Friday is laundry day for these.

    In the afternoon my friend and I went to the cinema to see 'Priscilla'. It was ok - certainly not as good as the Elvis film that was released last year. It was adapted from Priscilla Presley's autobiography, but it seemed to jump over quite a bit of the latter part of their relationship. I decided to download the book on Kindle to see if there was more to it as I need something new to read.

    Dinner was last of the turkey spaghetti bolognaise and green salad with balsamic vinegar.

    Spend was just the book today.

    TODAY
    I went out to do some errands this morning - I needed apples, satsumas, bananas, spinach leaves and yoghurt. I also wanted some lamb neck fillet for a lamb and chickpea curry I wanted to make today. Ocado didn't appear to sell it when I placed my order earlier in the week so I thought my local butcher would. Not to be!  It seems lamb neck fillet doesn't appear to be that popular so I used some turkey breast fillet that I was going to use for something else.

    We've been having rodent problems in our block of flats for the past few months - I actually caught a mouse in my kitchen a few weeks ago. There appears to be a drain problem where they were getting in, as well as holes in the brickwork and the cement work of the block. It was getting bad as the rodents were getting trapped and dying and then we'd get the flies!  We've had a particular argy-bargy with the managing agent over costs for taking care of the problem (one of my neighbours who has a small child had a particular heated argument over the phone with one of the directors - she asked him how he would like a child of his to live in a place with a vermin problem and threatened with health and safety).  The managing agent has now finally got around to sorting it and the drain has been flushed and there were two workman here today taking care of the brickwork and holes and boarding up the floors of the electric cupboards in the communal hallways. They're still here working on it!  Hopefully this will be the end of it.

    Spends today were the groceries.
    Also I ordered from Beauty Pie a new bottle of face serum drops that I had run out of. I joined Beauty Pie some months ago and I really like their skin care. The drops were £15.

    @redofromstart  - maybe it's a sign of the times that a lot of folk aren't really using it anymore so there's no demand. Shame as I've always found it tasty. ☹️
