Thanks @dawnybabes - hopefully they'll make a sequel!🤞. One guy was still working on the pest problem today - finishing off  boarding up inside the electric box cupboards in the communal hallways. Hopefully this will be the last of the unwelcome pet invasion!😳

DD Signalled over some old photos she had found - one was c.1975 of our old dog we had when I was married and DD was very young.  The dog was sitting in the kitchen/diner and DD wrote - 'Look at that carpet!' together with an hysterically laughing emoji!  I replied that I was very proud of my cobalt blue swirly carpet with matching blue and white walls and white Hygena kitchen units!  !  Very trendy then!😁

My friend and I went for brunch this morning. We decided to try a new cafe that had recently opened near us that had good reviews. I had the small breakfast (this was my weekly treat) and my friend had the pancakes with fruit, yogurt and maple syrup. The service was slow and our coffee order was wrong. However the staff were quite young and the place was full and hectic so we'll give them another go as the food was tasty.

Another portion of the turkey and chickpea curry for dinner with some cauli rice.

I've also booked cinema tickets for this week to see Anthony Hopkins' new film 'One Life'. I think it's going to be a tearjerker so we'll take plenty of tissues!

Looking forward to settling down and watching Vera later. 😀

The only spends today was brunch and the cinema tickets.

@Sun_Addict - yep - the guy who trains me at the gym said he watched it because his wife wanted to. He doesn't strike me as the weepy film type but said even he was blubbing up so there will be no hope for us!

The last time I blubbed at anything was years ago when I watched the Thorn Birds. Having said that I was pregnant with DD at the time so my hormones were all over the place 🤣 Mind you the Emma Thompson scene in Love Actually still makes me well up 😢

  • I saw One Life this week and really enjoyed it. Only 2 tissues required 😂

Got to love a good 1970's carpet eh - Mum and I were giggling over some photos I found with the carpets in the house I grew up in featuring heavily - can't imagine living with anything of that sort now, could we!

Very glad to hear that the managing agents finally sorted out the issues you were having - although honestly, I should think so too! I confess I am happy beyond measure to no longer be leaseholders!

@Sun_Addict - Oh!  I remember The Thorn Birds!  DSis was spellbound by it!  I liked it too - starred the late Richard Chamberlain as the priest. He was soooo good looking!  I loved him in the 70s TV mini series The Count of Monte Christo and The Man in the Iron Mask!❤️

@Debsnewbudget - We shall make sure we have ample tissues!😆

@EssexHebridean - re mid- 70s decor - we had a perfectly nice new white bathroom suite when we moved into our home. But coloured suites were all the rage! So the ex- Mr SSG and his plumber friend fitted a new navy blue suite on my instructions. It was all navy, avocado and dark brown bathroom suites at that time. Of course I regretted it because the dark suite kept showing up all the water marks!  I was forever wiping down the bath and wash basin!
I'd love to get rid of this flat leasehold business but can't afford a house round here!  My neighbours and I are still in dispute over the extra £516 we have been charged by the managing agent. They've just sent over invoices that the last MA received for works done etc for the accounting year.  My neighbour has gone through them and says she can't make them add up.  I'm still to check which is a job for tomorrow.

Today was weigh in day and I have lost 3lb which I'm pleased about. I had a vegetable omelette with low fat cheddar plus wholemeal toast and low fat spread for brunch. More of the turkey curry tonight with salad and cauli rice.

I popped out to post some mail and buy this week's lotto tickets. A really bright, crisp day today which helped cheer up Blue Monday.

Two of my friends and I were due to meet in London last month for our annual Christmas lunch which had to be cancelled because of the train strike that day. We've today sorted out a belated date for the week after next so that's something to look forward to. And I've also booked flights to Scotland today to Bear-sit later in the month. It's DD's OH's birthday soon and they've finally sorted out where they're going away for it. I did say I'd come up and look after the Bears rather than putting them into kennels and dates have been finalised today.

    Spends were:
    • The easyJet flights. Not so much spent here this time as I'm actually going to take a cabin bag with me rather than a hold bag. I've got clothes and toiletries kept up there so it'll just be underwear, nightie and a couple of skincare products. Oh - and Bear treats!
    • £4 on lotto tickets.

@beanielou - I know!😀. I didn't think DD and OH would get their act together over it as they were humming and haing about work etc!  I just hope I don't get scuppered weather wise!😳

Glad the mice problems are getting sorted. Hope you get the money sorted too. It seems a lot 😡
I quite fancy the One Life film. He was an amazing man.
