Thank you @TallGirl@EssexHebridean @milann @doingitanyway and @beanielou. I won £25 on the PBS for February so all going the right way,👍
Over a month gone again since I last updated. 😵💫. I really must do better - I did want 2023 to be the year where I really kept my diary up to date!
Anyhow, highlights since I last wrote have been a trip with family to see 'Back to the Future' musical at the West End - this was mainly for little nephew who really enjoyed it. I thought they did a pretty good job too. I also went to see the Strictly Come Dancing Tour at the O2 the other Sunday - the ticket was a Christmas present. Great performances all round!😀. And I went to a friend's 60th birthday lunch last Friday - it was her treat and held at one of my favourite London restaurants.Sad occasion was my friend's husband 's funeral a few weeks ago. She did him proud though - the service and wake were packed - one of the biggest funerals I've attended. 😞
Otherwise I've been attending the gym regularly, had my hair done plus regular things like hair and nails, brunches and coffees with friends. I've also started Slimming World again - weigh in tomorrow - first week - fingers crossed. 🤞
This week I have a lunch tomorrow with friends and an afternoon tea on Saturday - both local. My friend who was bereaved is also coming to stay on Thursday for a couple of nights. Hopefully all this eating out won't sabotage Slimming World too much!😳

Apart from the above I've bought a rather nice lamp for my side table in the living room from a local shop. It's quite large, urn-shaped in a grey and black stone finish with a large white shade. It's to replace the mirrored lamp I have had for a few years - which is a bit too 'bling' for me now!
Plus I had to upgrade my mid-distance glasses which I use for watching the TV.
And I made a one-off payment to Octopus Energy to bring my bill down to zero. This was paid from the Government payment which I received back at the end of last year. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Life sounds busy. It’s eating out that sabotages my sw journey too 😏January spends - £587.581

Glad you’re well. Re eating out I’m always amazed that nowhere seems to do food compatible with people on diets! Most things are really high in calories etc.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

It really annoys me when out & people say you're out to enjoy yourself/celebrate forget about the diet for a day. The trouble you forget for the day, which becomes the weekend, which becomes the week, which becomes several pounds put on & even worse a feeling that you have failed yourself. Then you have to restart your focus. I don't necessarily want to really go the whole hog, but surely they can put some reasonable bits on the menu that isn't going to ruin everything & maybe leave a little room for the appropriate cake.

Thank you @beanielou @milann @Sun_Addict and @badmemory!😀
Well today was my first weigh in day! Drumroll: 8 1/2 lbs loss! Whoppee!💥. Mind you, I always lose well my first week of dieting because (a) it's probably mainly water, (b) I'm tall and (c) I have a lot of weight to lose! Still I'm really chuffed. 😁However I had lunch out today with my three friends - I'm afraid I went for a Croque Madame with baked beans on the side (well in my defence the baked beans were syn free!), an oat milk flat white and sparkling water. The Croque Madame was rather un-SW but I did redeem myself by having no dessert or cake ( and this cafe is renowned for its cakes around here!) - go me!!'😆. So tonight it'll be a syn free bowl of fresh fruit and 0% fat free yoghurt with a couple of Brazil nuts at 1 syn each!
We had a nice mooch around the shops afterwards. My friend bought a bracelet as a birthday gift for her niece, another friend bought a dress in a sale for £20 and I bought a set of rather nice wooden coasters with engraved octopuses (or should it be octopi!) in a box (£14) for DD to go on a coffee table where she has a rather lovely metal sculpture of an octopus! She has a thing about them!😁
Tonight it will be couch potatoing with the TV - I've just finished watching the latest series of Clarkson's Farm (where I spent much time crying with laughter and on the other hand feeling so sad on how hard farmers are finding life these days.....😞). I started watching the first episode of Better last night which I thought was good - the rest of the episodes have been downloaded on BBC iPlayer so I might watch another later.MSE SCRIMPY THINGS

I enjoyed Better.
I am a believer in enjoying what I have when I go out.
Plenty of time for bread & water at home
