"The IPC's comments (p.35) raise fears about a potential end to free parking to the detriment of already embattled UK High Streets.''

Government also have green targets and there are moves now for town centres to be car free.

The IPC are in denial ..... Google is NOT the IPC's best friend ?
The boys created a monster commonly known as a scam.  Do they really think Government has missed it ?  The government probably just pay lip service to the IPC with no intention of listening to them ..... the BPA is on route to join the IPC

makes you wonder what  exactly used to happen before the DVLA opened the tap for greedy ppcs?
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"

The bill got cross party support and went through to become law.  I cannot see a judicial review go in their favour.

The most recent chat re parking enforcement in the area all points away from a PPC being involved.
The article did mention that a parking operator is involved. Maybe not patrolling, but the council could be using the PPC's ANPR cameras (they can't use their own), with the PPC accessing motorist data from their DVLA electronic access - no one would notice that involvement.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Same sort of thing is happening on Cannock Chase although I don't think that there has been a public consulatation.

The increase in visitors during the pandemic has caused problems with fires and litter. Many of these visitors are from outside the area who do not understand how easily a fire can spread especially when the weather has been dry. There has probably had to be an increased ranger presence.

@Coupon-mad Whenever I see/read/hear "carmaggedon", I think of the old game series:

    https://employeebenefits.co.uk/kpmg-flexible-hybrid-working/
KMPG are introducing flexible working whereby staff go into the office for four days over two weeks. I guess that many other firms will follow suit so this will reduce the amount of cars on the road which will be a good thing for climate change.

IMO the PPC's are dinosaurs and not longer necessary as the landowners can manage their own car parks effectively without damaging the relationship with their customers.
