OS Daily Sunday 9th Dec 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sat 9th Dec 07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.

Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier! When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

Very windy down here, but not as bad as was predicted...although I think the worst is yet to come.. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Managed a few more shopping things yesterday... town seemed fairly quiet, but I guess it's still 2 weeks till Christmas...
Sis in law caused a major problem in the car park. It's one of those stupid ones where you have to pay for your ticket before you leave at one of the machines and then put your paid for ticket in the machine at the barrier.. Of course she did not know and ended up stuck at the barrier. Huge queue of cars behind, we could not go forward or back!! The car park attendant eventually sorted it out, but not the best situation to get yourself in to.

Church today and then off to Mum's for Sunday roast.

1 week to go until out Christmas holiday..:D So much to do though!

Anyway have a nice day...

I thought I was the only one who did that! Did it a couple of weeks ago - knew you were supposed to pay before you left, however when I came out of the shops the pay machine was closed and the shutters around it were down. How was I supposed to know there was another one:confused::confused::rotfl::rotfl::rolleyes:

Shopping today....eww can't stand the thought of it. The shops generally don't open until 1.00pm over here though, so lots of hanging around to do before I go anywhere. I suppose I could do some housework in the meantime (or go back to bed).

Enjoy spending your OH's pressie Kyle. Shame you can't buy sleep, as it sounds like you could do with quite a few hours uninterrupted slumber. Enjoy your roast dinner N9eav.

Hope ds1 feels better soon Kyle and enjoy spending the vouchers!

Not raining here at the minute but has been all night, ds1 footy match for this afternoon was called off last night due to waterlogged pitch, so now hoping ds3 is called off this morning, hes due to play at 11am, and i am undecided wether to go or not if its on??? I may stay at home and get roast chicken ready for their return.;)

We got loads done yesterday, the kitchen was deep cleaned, all drawers and cupboards cleared out, had a change round on worktops moved the coffee machine, kettle ect around to make more space, then spent the rest of the day with friends round drinking wine and having a nice chat.
My friend has given me my xmas present early and im so exciteddddddddd, she has paid for me to go to a very posh hairdresser and have a cut, colour and restyle next thursday!!! Iv never paid my mobile hairdresser more than £10 for a cut, and i know that last time my friend went to this hairdressers it cost over £100 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a choccy tree in my advent calendar today :D

The decs are down from the loft :T master tru stayed at a friend's last night, miss and mr tru are working today so I have the house to myself :T I love it when they all go out and the house is normal, then when they come home it's like a grotto :D

So it'll be a quick flick round with a duster, then decorate. Then lunch and minstrels (don't tell Murphy's pie club members please lol) while watching a film.

    Morning all

Tru - chuck me a minstrel. Enjoy your peace and quiet.

Dlb - What a lovely friend, I never pay more than £10 for a cut either, can't quite understand how some people can pay so much for a hair cut. Enjoy the treat.

Snowy - I'd stick with the "going back to bed" option if I were you.

Kyle - Enjoy the vouchers - what you going to get?

    N9eav - Enjoy your hols.

Shez - Enjoy your trip out today - are you taking the kids or have your foisted them on your brother - sounds far to fussy for his own good.

Decs are up, tree looks great - very pleased with it this year. Had a mad rush round the shops for a few last minute bits and bobs (a birthday pressie I'd forgotton about) but it was so wet and windy here yesterday - town was nearly deserted, can't be doing the shops much good.

Today I aim to cook toad in the hole at lunch time - we never quite manage it normally and it ends up being at about 5pm. Would like to go for a walk this afternoon now the weathers calmed down but I'm suffering with sciatica today so will have to see if it eases off.

WM and DW on and a pile of ironing awaits.

    Have fun all.

Shez - Still Game is fab! I had a patient the other day say he had just met an "Isa" in the waiting room, and sure enough when she came in...it was uncanny. but I suppose thats why its funny, we all know an Isa!

    Good morning everyone:D

kyle, hope DS1 feels better soon, what a shame for him to miss the party. Does DH get to spend any of his *extras* at Christmas:rotfl: :rotfl: You enjoy;)

tru, know what you mean about decorating! I used to love it when the kids were small, they'd go to bed one night and then get up in the morning and the house was transformed. They loved it:D

Shez enjoy your Terracotta army! Haven't been to the British Museum in agesicon9.gif Used to love that place;)

dlb, wow what a gift. Enjoy it, you deserve a nice treat! Just swan in there as if this is soooooo normal for you:rotfl:

Well off to Church later, for the Christingle service, which is lovely. I shall smile (inwardly) at the comments of some who genuinely seem to think the fairies come in and prepare these things:rotfl: :rotfl: The children in particular love holding their lighted Christingles while we sing the special hymn.:D A really lovely family service.

Later I shall need to join Snowy in some shoppingicon9.gif One minute I was fairly OK with Christmas shopping, then I took my eye off the ball and now I'm hopelessly behind. Happens every year:o :o

Hope you have good Sundays, (((((hugs)))))) to all that want one. It's trying to rain again, but at least the sky is blue:rolleyes:

    CMxx

taplady, just looked at the end of yesterday's Daily.  Thank goodness your DS walked away from that. Those pictures are horrendous. Definitely a bus pass for a while:D

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Morning Chums ,it's really dark and gloomy here in North Kent and I may just go back to bed for a read in a minute. DD is picking me up this afternoon along with my small bingo game, and I will be playing bingo with her little tribe of small boys before Lunch. They love it and it gets very noisy at times. Tomorrow I have a Chistmas Lunch to go to that has been arranged by our craft club so I must make sure that I take everyones Chistmas cards with me. My cold seems to be going at long last thank goodness, it hung around for a fortnight.
I had an email from my sis-in-law ,she is settled out with her family in Dubai until February. She said the weather is perfect ,warm, sunny ,like a nice summers day here .
Lucky devil, she will notice the difference when she comes home though.
Well all my presents are wrapped and lbelled thank goodness just the cards to write out and post.and it's still two weeks to go.i can't believe how organised I am this year.
I have another hospital appaointment on Wednesday for a check up, but things seem to be going as they should ,fingers crossed though.I am hoping that I can start driving again by Christmas, they will let me know this week.I had my hairdresser trim my straggly bit of hair this week,She said next time she comes she will remove the last of it, and I will be wearing my 'beanie' hat for a few months until the new stuff grows in.I'm saving a fortune in hair stuff at the moment Onwards and upwards though, and roll on the spring when I shall feel fit as a fiddle hopefully
Well I hope everyone has a lovely week-end and <<hugs>> to those in need, and a big smiley face for the rest of you
Just off to have some kippers for breakfast ,I am shopping from my freezer and fancied something different for a change
