What was the question asked about previous claims and losses?
"Have you or anyone living in the house made any home insurance claims or suffered any losses in the last 5 years?"
I won't check the other aggregators but presume the same or similarly worded question. What has prompted the OP to take out the cover is a series of losses to their families mobiles. It's precisely why the question is worded as such; to flesh those out who are more likely to claim.0 -

What was the question asked about previous claims and losses? The insurers may not be so optimistic, prices normally fall much faster than that.Bazrazmataz10 said:Looks about 1600 for a modern day equivalent
As to it being so close to inception... it'll be a red flag and its likely they'll kick the tyres harder than if you'd been a customer claim free for 4 years etc. Insurers don't have exclusion periods on Home insurance and its just about if they can gather sufficient evidence of fraud to decline the claim0 -

There is no point in them putting in an exclusion period like they do with Pet for example as you could live with your laptop damaged for a month but not many would wait that long with a sick pet.

The insurance meaning of 'loss' may be very different to that of the general public. To Joe Public 'loss' is precisely that - "I do not know where an item is" whereas to the insurer 'loss' generally means 'no longer have the use of' rather than 'do not know where it is'.

if you make a claim, the insurer may want to have a look at the laptop, they will examine it to see when it was last used which can be recoverable. Just because it doesn't turn on, doesn't mean the hard drive cannot be recovered. If you wipe the hard drive before giving it to them, that will make it even more suspicious."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

They did ask this but ive only claimed once on holiday insurance , ive never claimed on home insurance as ive not always taken it out.
Thanks for the reply just to clarify I only just took out the entire policy , I've not had any contents insurance for 18 months just I moved and didn't renew with a different supplier. I've fully disclosed a previous claim from 2018 when a phone was stolen on holiday and we used the home insurance as the holiday insurance wasn't playing ball. I'm obviously not gonna tell any insurance company my kids have no sense of looking after stuff.

As I said before in my earlier post get a quote for repair to the laptop before contacting your insurance company.
It may only cost £20 to repair.
