Happy anniversary Foxholes. Sounds like everyone had a lovely 1st of May. We did too. Walked 3 miles with hubby, sorted some books previously advertised on a local selling site. Now being sold to Music black&white bird, the rest to be donated to CS. A good start to Money Making May. Hubby planted some Nasturtium seeds in the trough on top of the front garden wall, which I watered for him, as he can't lift anything heavy, then I planted shallots & onions. Did some knitting & watched TV in the evening.

May Holidays (Bank Holiday weekend)
May 1st
International May Day
Celebrating workers everywhere (especially those who don't get paid) and all the wonderful things 'ordinary' people can achieve when they band together and work for positive change by campaigning (and sometimes protesting) including Universal suffrage (right to vote), the NHS - before the NHS local workers agreed to put 1 penny per week (proportionately less for women and youths, as they were paid less) into a fund to build a local hospital. Miners and mill workers who had been injured often died on the way to the nearest hospitals (both approx 8 miles away), on a cart if they were lucky, or on a makeshift stretcher carried by their workmates. The Right to Roam The Mass Trespass at Kinder Scout took place on 24th April 1932, The right not to work 12 hour days, or unlimited hours in a week, health and safety legislation (no overtired truck drivers ploughing into cars and people), protective clothing, The right to be paid in cash (has been revised but at least the poor beleagured fishermen are not required to take their wages in fish - yet). Equal pay (+ for work of equal value) Go dinnerladies. Schools, Access to childcare, Provision for disabled people, etc, etc, etc (in Yul Brynner voice). Many of these rights are now under threat.

Being Positive in a Negative Situation
1) Have a positive community, tribe or support group (Hey Turtles)
2) Express what you are grateful for.
You need to look for things to be grateful for
3) Retrain your mind.
Stop being your own worst critic and love yourself. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
4) Exercise your body and mind
5) Accept and find solutions.
If you cannot change it, then you have to change yourself or the way you look at it.
It's okay if someone doesn't like you
Not everyone has good taste

Food delivery today so not an NSD and no walking sadly as we had to wait in for it to come. However, I have not been lazy. I was up early and had done all the housework and a big ironing before Himself even got out of bed.
I had also watered the plants, fed the squirrels and birds and sorted out a rather sorry looking houseplant. Hopefully it will survive. Sunflower sowing tomorrow.
Roast chicken for dinner at the request of the boy.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -

Evening all
A nice day today, started a bit rubbish as was awake from the wee small hours with back pain... used the TENS machine and took my painkillers, then did my physio when I got up. Went for a horse ride and horse seems to be behaving again. Helped some D of E students with map reading which horse found very interesting! Then went for a swim which was really nice.
Have been watching TV and reading this afternoon. Am absolutely starving today so dinner is on already, quorn goujons, baby potatoes and peas, yum!
Grateful for good weather, a good ride and a good swim.6 -
2nd May and another spend day!
Grocery delivery today and we had a takeaway this evening.
I touched up some bits of the garden fence with the last of the paint while OH cut the grass. DS played away in the house, but I do feel guilty when I’m doing other things and giving him no attention.
The three of us took a short walk after dinner.
Once DS is in bed, we will be watching last week’s Line of Duty so we’re up-to-date for tonight’s final episode.
Grateful today for finishing painting fence, a tidy garden, an evening walk with my OH and DS. ❤️NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6
