Happy May, everyone.
Budget and banking all done. Charity donations if they have not already come out will do in a couple of days. Only one birthday this month. I already have he birthday card and money to put in it put away. I have no idea what to buy an eighteen year old boy so it seems like a good idea. One potential outlay. I am going to have to be brave get my eyes tested and new glasses.
Walked just over three miles today and I have been eating healthily. I have a plan for the next week. Lots of fruit, veg and fish plus really cutting down on the alcohol. Himself (as I suspected) following his hospital appointment has been told this is a bit of a priority. I just have to find ways of getting him to do it.
I love trees (especially all those with the beautiful blossom which are out just now) but nowhere to plant one. Would some sunflowers do instead?Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Evening all, no NSD as needed petrol. Also paid £2 for parking at the swimming pool - went to a different pool today as mine was closed and didn't realise you have to pay. Ah well.
Workout plus swim done, few jobs done at home, and a fairly relaxed afternoon/evening. Healthy dinner on the go too.6 -
Of course Toni'sfriend birds and bees love sunflowers (I think bees like most yellow flowers).
Many many apologies, I have a list of wacky holidays and meant to come back but my day went in unforeseen directions. First of all, mum said something nice to me last night. She saw that I had felled the ex bird table stump and said that I was very clever. Lots of bits of me were hurting this morning so planned a gentle day. However needed to sort my room out. The mattress keeps parting company with the bed base (a foot overhang not just 2 or 3 inches) and in consequence things have started going over the edge. So I have cleared the bed, washed two lots of bedding (so far), emptied two packs of toilet rolls into the cupboard (no more headboard), put the pillows, rest of the bedding and the electrical stuff (lamp and CPAP machine) in mum's room, moved the base and mattress right back against the two walls.
Meanwhile mum had decided that the oven door was intolerable and rubbed at it with a bowl of water and various cloths until she was exhausted and made herself feel sick (and only about 2" of oven door done). So I've spent the afternoon mostly doing that - went nexxt door to ask lovely neighbour to open the childproof top on the stuff, rounded up a plastic sack, a large old towel, rubber gloves (one rubber glove and used disposable ones on the other hand), a stick and some rags. Looked at the door first (apparently one of the grandchildren did it once and the door comes off and she put the glass in the put nasty stuff in the bag and leave overnight). I poured nasty stuff on the base of the oven and then dribbled the rest between the two layers of glass (over the towel and plastic sack to catch any drips that came out the bottom). Wrapped rags round my stick and wiggled it between the glass layers trying to cover as much surface as possible. Then my stick broke.
Left it for a couple of hours. Told mum not to touch it or lean over it. Found another stick (will need another paint stirring stick). Fed in a long strip of cloth and used my stick to wipe the cloth back and forth. Dribbled in water from a plastic jug and the glass is clear apart from a tiny bit in the bottom corners (my stick didn't reach that far, even before it broke). Given that I struggle to clean my own oven at the best of times (and the sawing had already taken it's toll on various muscles) I've done an excellent job. Mum is quite pleased too and then started crying because she keeps trying to do things and finding she can't. told her she must say what needs doing or ask for help (and hopefully I can do things on a good day).
Grateful for managing two difficult jobs, a pleasant sunny day (good for sheets) and being on the bed now (would love a shower but not sure if I can do more - went back up the yard as it was trying to rain on my mostly dry bedding).
Holidays - will post more tomorrow. I'm going to announce them on the day so if it's a food idea and you don't have that in, feel free to add it to your next meal plan (several drink ones too) and save 'activities' for when you are trying to entertain your offspring.

First of May - a spend day!
DS and I went in search of a new garden parasol in the garden centres. Found a nice one with solar fairy lights on the underside.
DS got hungry at one of the centres. So we had our picnic in the car since there were no tables to sit at unless you were ordering from the cafe.
Hope turtles have had a good first of May. X

Today I am grateful for bumping into a neighbour and her kiddies for a good natter, for a good gym session, for getting a bag of stuff to the ch shop, for an evening walk with dd, for all the birdsong out there, for finding a perfect hat pattern to knit dd a hat, for resisting buying anything in the ch shops and thus getting my first NSD of the month.

My mum does that Mothernerd, gets so upset when she can't do stuff and is loathed to ask..It is so hard to see and deal with as I am constantly either doing too much or too little.

Going for a walk.
The rabbits and the dogs making me laugh in the garden
The garden.
