I've just received a reply back and confirmation of our tariff change, confirming they've switched us to October 12M Fixed December 2024 with a rate of 5.85 p/kWh / 29.34 p/day SC as of today! Albeit and error on their part, I'll happily take that!
So you won the customer service lottery, I might chance it myself then, given they still giving this out, when I contact them on Saturday to fix my switch over date I will ask of they will give me the Dec tariff. They probably wont but may as well chance it.

I did indeed. After all the panic yesterday when I started reading this thread, a fluke of luck and back on track (no pun intended!).Chrysalis said:BargainBear said:So I couldn't get through on the phone before I had a meeting, so popped them an email during the meeting asking if they'd honor the "Octopus 12M Fixed January 2025 V1" tariff of 6.10 p/kWh, requesting the change to come in to effect today.

So when I emailed them, I may have embellished things a little, but I only asked if I could be put on the January 12M fixed rate (6.10 p/kWh) as opposed to the January 14M fixed rate (6.13 p/kWh). So their response and action came out of leftfield completely! Perhaps chance your luck via email. FWIW I stuck all my security info at the top of the email to save the email tennis.
I just calculated if our usage for 2024-2025 remains the same for 2025-2026, the annual difference between the 14M fixed January 2025 tariff (6.13 p/kWh) and the 12M fixed December 2024 tariff (5.85 p/kWh) would only be £21.17; there would be the added benefit of an additional 2 months fixed unit price on the 14M.Pennies holding up the Pounds.1 -
Gulp! 32p/kwh for electric today 🤯. Good job it’s back to 24 tomorrow. Just locked the gas in for 14 months0

Looking back over the past couple of years I'd guess that, with the exception of the blip on or around 12th Dec 2024, the latest wholesale price for electricity 9.94 p is fully in line with the long term trend. To argue that it has jumped significantly runs against this interpretation.
The wholesale multiplier formula for Tracker and Agile would seem to bring the same result (just over 26) at a wholesale price of around 12 by my calcs. Make of that what you will!Telegraph Sam

Yep same here. Making tomato pensioner lifestyle more attractive everyday. As I put off doing laundry until a cheaper price and a nice day to hang it out. And some times it piles up. not good for the old mental health. But with the tomato tariff I get two time frames a day with a lower price so can get laundry done everyday if a good weather. With council tax and water going up. We are going to struggle massively. Only fans here I comela531983 said:

Very little wind forecast for tomorrow or Saturday combined with freezing temps means high electricity prices.
Wind due to pick up again on Sunday 12th and less cold so should be returning to more normal prices.

Yup I've jumped to the Octopus fix for now, mine was ending next month too. Will consider Agile at some point.zoonyx said:

yes although I don't have solar or batteries, I think I can shift some. Plus I have stupid home automation stuff running 24/7 which will effectively be cheaper on agile through the night. That's for summer though I think.la531983 said:
