Why bother doing it, if you have a smart meter?

Seeing the results of the fortnightly smart meter health check should allay any fears about them not using actual smart meter data. Boy I wish I'd asked Dolor how he accessed that info, while he was still around

If my smart meter readings correspond with what is shown on the monthly invoice then mission accomplished and my suspicious mind can stop asking questions

I hadn't noticed he's become another victim of the ban hammer. That's a big loss.

You can download your data from Octopus, that will show you exactly what data they've been getting from your meter.0

He said in a post which can be found by putting the phrase "fortnightly smart meter health check" in search box that the info is only available to Smart Metering team.Spoonie_Turtle said:Seeing the results of the fortnightly smart meter health check should allay any fears about them not using actual smart meter data. Well I doubt you are saving £80 a month then if you don't know your exact monthly usage in kWh and are tracking the savings against the price cap rates.
I lost the data for the whole year because we joined Octopus in Match I believe. I didn't keep track of what our usage was when we were with EDFMultiFuelBurner said:How much electricity/gas do you use a year in kWh?
What did you use in kWh last monthly bill with octopus for elec and gas?0 -
That could be quite a naive response. Knowing actual usage is key, actual kWh that you use each month and not the direct debit going out. Many people come to the energy board with knowing what they pay but knowing what they use and the debt they are in.Robgmun said:

got it in to my head that with all the wind tomorrow electricity may have been a lot cheaper than today. same price tomorrow which is roughly 40% below cap

To know you are saving, you have to be able to compare one thing to another.
Compared to SVT, since mid July, I have saved just over £60 on my electricity. Some of that is with Agile.
So I am saving around £20 a month compared to paying SVT electricity rates.
Compared to what I was paying last year, I am saving a fortune. In the same period last year, I spent £241. This year I have spent £129. So a saving of £102. But that is not a fair comparison, as my usage has changed and prices are lower, even without tracker.
