The Tracker gas is still doing ok, 5.28p today (Yorkshire)
Yep the gas cost has barely moved upwards since temps plunged, but electricity costs are creeping up sadly and leccy makes up most of my bill, still very grateful for getting things cheaper than EPG.
Almost 6p/kWh for me today, and (judging by Marex) likely to be higher again tomorrow.

Was 5 point something at the time I posted for me, but it is indeed higher today now at 7.17p.  So on a upward trend now although still below EPG.

Yes, 7.38p/kWh for gas and 25.75p/kWh for electricity in Southern region today.
Anyone still on v1 will be appreciating their 6p gas cap!
so it is indeed a massive shame Octopus pulled the tariff as even on the £1 tariff, would barely be hitting 45p for a few hours at peak and then cheaper rest of day for most of the last couple of months.
If they had adhered to apparent EPG reduction rules maybe they would not have had to pause Agile and Tracker tariffs.

Interesting both the reference to December 9th and also they stating EPG reduction will not reduce below 34p kWh

Leaves me confused, because as you said that contradicts what they have done for existing customers.

    --

Today my electric costs are pegged at regional EPG rates for the entire day.  33.02p.
Significance of 9th December appears to be that is the date Octopus are ending October Agile and it is assumed October Tracker version, those on that tariff appear to have had reasonable notice. they will either have to go on November version or another tariff.

  • Have we hit both caps today? 33.03p and 10.24p (Yorkshire)?
I believe we have,  I'm on 35.06 and 10.31 which are the EPG caps for Eastern

London: today gas is at 10.51p and leccy at 35.80p. Is that at the regional cap limit?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    New Tracker:

Does anyone know how to get the Octopus product code for the November 2022 Tracker?

I have written a small app, so I can keep track of these, I know the codes for:

    Tracker V3: SILVER-22-04-25
    Tracker July 2022 V1: SILVER-22-07-22
    Tracker August 2022 V1: SILVER-22-08-31

It would be nice to add this new tracker

    Cheers

Yes it is - you can see all the regional ERG caps here:

  • I'm on the July tracker V1 and now paying the nationwide cap, 33 and 10.
Rates seem likely to increase and once my tracker cap is reached I'll be paying 38 and 12.

At what point should I switch to variable?
The obvious point would be as soon as it breaches 33 or 10, or is it?
A reason for not switching is the hope it dips again but I don't want to overpay during high usage periods.

Any clever people got any ideas? I assume some are in the same boat.

I paid 40p and 11p for most of the summer which was over the SVR but gas usage was low and our solar panels were reducing electricity usage so the impact wasn’t too bad (pennies per day). I sat it out and October/November has been great. Due to my 40/11p caps I’m not going to be paying more than the EPG anyway.

If the EPG is removed in April you could end up paying more on SVR than your tracker caps but you need to work out the worst case scenario for if rates go over your cap between now and April and decide if it is worth a gamble. Paying an extra 10p per day now is fine if it saves you £1 per day in April but if you have high winter usage it might not be worth the gamble.

What are the predictions for SVR in April when the EPG ends?

Why switch to variable now? The rate is the same as you’re paying now but without the chance of a reduction when the price dips.

Average bill rising from £2500 to £3000 is a new EPG for 12 months starting in April, I havent seen anyone calculate the unit rates for that yet though.
