  • October usage £139 (EPG would have been £230)
November usage £182 (EPG would have been £294)

Tracker has saved me around £200 in 2 months. I’m glad I have plenty of credit built up so it should see us through the next few months.

Why switch to variable now? The rate is the same as you’re paying now but without the chance of a reduction when the price dips.
Because I will pay above EPG if the wholesale price goes high enough (after EPG is applied my tariff caps at 38p elec, 12p gas).
Elec becomes 30p more per day and gas on a cold day is an extra £1.
It's whether that's worth tolerating for a few months in the hope it drops again and I don't have enough info to make that decision.
Bear in mind the EPG is going up in April, so factor that in as well, we probably will get more cheaper periods as well.
  • The Marex gas markets page seems to have disappeared. Does anyone have an alternative source for this information?

My gas tracker has, for the first time, gone above the government cap! Not looking good for the rest of the winter. Thinking whether I need to switch onto Flexible now.

I was so used to the price being at the 10.5p kwh cap I'd stopped looking. I just happened to log on to view a bill and noticed today's gas tracker is only 6p

  • Yep, mine's showing at 5.88 for gas today and 17.21 for electric (Eastern region). Seems odd during the cold weather, is the wind blowing?

Yeah odd. Gas is the main source of electricity right now so surprising. I'm not on electricity tracker so it's also strange that's low today at these sport prices while Agile rates are 80p without the cap.

I think Marex have locked their spot prices of gas behind a paywall now :(

For me, today's actual electricity UR would be 55.88p/kWh (reduced to EPG SVT of 33.07p/kWh), yet it's showing as 15.22p/kWh - must be an error? Similarly, though we don't know specifically what today's actual gas UR should be, I'm guessing it's not 5.85p/kWh, as shown in my account?
    What's going on?
