Both bits working for me (inasmuch as the Tracker function can be called 'working'). We're electricity only.1

That is the clue then, I have Octopus GO and Gas Tracker, and it broken for me, so that points to an issue with those on Gas Tracker only.

So e.g. if I stay on Agile and the freeze is 33p, they subsidising me 2p unit.
If I move to SVR to get that 33p rate, they subsidising me about 20p unit. The former is cheaper.
They are only subsidizing the difference between what the fuel can be bought for (plus some profit) and the freeze. While also trying to reduce the price the fuel can be bought for.

I think this has been covered, but just quickly...
12 month old BG tariff ending. Rang octopus who said it was totally fine for me to 1) set my on-supply date for 45+ in advance (end of super-cheap BG tariff), and 2) go straight onto tracker despite there being a wait list online?
That was pre-price cap cap. So now on the 15th October, I'm moving to tracker on the 29th August cap rate (I just missed the older cap) This seemed the best of a bad bunch at the time, but now I'm stuck between staying on tracker or moving to the current fix, which will then be reduced (we think) by the government intervention.
My gut says stick it out on tracker and hope the reduction applies here. If now, swap to SVR and I won't lose out that much because the fix is pretty crap anyway.
Can anyone say "yeah that's right" (or not) just to set my mind at rest. Basically.. do nothing for now and hope the switch works out ok?

We now know the new SVT regional rates, but until we hear how the reduction will be applied to fixed and capped tariffs, I'm doing nothing re. Tracker. At present the daily Tracker gas rate seems to have stabilised at around 13.37p.
I'd expect Octopus to announce how this will work later this week perhaps? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Cheers both, it's not quite the "yes" that I hoped for, but at least I know I'm not the only one petrified of doing the wrong thing! It appears worst-case it'll be easy to go Tracker->SVR than SVR->Tracker.0

I'm not sure why people are assuming octopus will reduce the cap of tracker? Do we have any evidence to suggest this?
My feeling was they'd reduce the flexible tariff (or more accurately increase it compared to current rates, but not by as much as it was going to be before the government intervention) Its looking like gas will go to around the 10-11p/kwh mark i'm guessing.
Why would they feel obligated to reduce tracker or any fixed rates though? Surely theyd expect customers to see if they want to carry on or move to flexible with no exit fee.
The only reason i can think of for reducing the tracker rates/caps would be if they still want many people to stay on these tariffs for "data gathering" purposes.
