I went today so will answer my own question in case anyone else is planning to go. The vast majority of the stock is half the store price. There are a few rails of cheaper items. Wasn't that busy and I didn't buy anything.

Has anyone been at Matalan recently. What offers have they got on just now particularly in Rogers and Rogers. Might go this weekend.

Hadn't been to Matalan for about 18 months. Went in the Jan sales and the queues were ridiculous. All the tills were open, it was the sheer number of people. There must have been a couple of hundred queuing.

The bath mat, mens socks and pair of gloves went back on the shelf!;)

just found this site and there is an english store in wolverhampton on the ring rd. stores house keeping leaves a lot to be desired if you compare it with renfrew. happy shopping.

I went to the store in Sunderland (Tyne & Wear) last week and they were selling bikini tops and bottoms for 42p each, can't go wrong with a 84p bikini. Also they had some lovely knickers and bras for 50p each.

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but went to the matalan at renfrew yesterday..

They seem to have got it less jumble saley than it used to be, there definately isn't as much stock (there is still plenty) and its more like a normal Matalan than it used to be. For the most part everything seemed to be half the original price (which for regulars at this shop is expensive!). It very much depends on your size whether you will get a bargain, they had very very little in a 14,16 or 18, millions and millions in a size 8 and some 10s and 12. I find matalan trousers sizes not very generous so bear in mind its quite a small 12.

They did have a huge area of Rodgers and rodgers stuff, i did have a quick look (for you always harrassed) - a lot of tops, summery ones and more tunicy ones too. Loads of jeans too. Most of them appeared to be about half price.

Note though that the stock is sometimes priced wrongly, quite often things are cheaper than you think they are going to be - if you find the same item priced lower in a differenet size chances are that they will a be reduced.

However its a what the till says rule - the staff won't override the price if you think it should be cheaper.

Matalan Clearance Store in Wolverhampton is closing down on Saturday, there may still be some bargains left if you hurry.

Just to resurrect this thread if I may. Gateshead has a clearance Matalan store, just out of the town centre (I don't mean the Metro centre one). Just past the Police station, opposite St Joseph's school.

The clearance section is huge though it's a bit of a roulette as to what you'll actually get charged at the till. However, they now have signs up on the door and at the till.

Any label marked W09 (winter 2009) is £1, anything marked S10 (summer 2010) is £2, you will undoubtedly be told the wrong price at the till as the stuff comes through at it's original reduction price. Just mention W9 or S10 to the cashier and they'll happily change it for you.

I bought £62 worth of stuff (original prices) for a fiver a couple of weeks ago. Be warned they won't refund though, but hell that's fair enough.

Anything prior to W09 will be a pound or less, anything later than S10 ie W10 will probably be at least half price or as marked.
It's mainly womens stuff but some mens, some kids and some kids uniforms too. Don't know if this applies in other Matalan shops with a clearance area but it's worth asking.

We went to the Renfrew (Glasgow) clearance shop yesterday and they had a lot of mens clothes I got some stuff for the first time as it is normally a lot of [EMAIL="!!!!"]!!!![/EMAIL] for men. The wife and kids always get bargains when we go.
