I do time restricted eating as well.  I do 9am-7pm, but often start later or finish eating earlier.  The longer break from eating helps balance blood sugars and it can help with weight loss if you eat less overall.  Not snacking in the evening has been a real benefit for me and not that hard once I got in the habit.

This article summarises some of the pros and cons: https://theconversation.com/is-intermittent-fasting-actually-good-for-weight-loss-heres-what-the-evidence-says-183500

Thanks everyone, that’s food for thought. I’m a natural grazer so normally have a coffee and a biscuit at my desk at 8am and finish with a coffee and a biscuit at about 8pm. Are you sensing a biscuit theme here? 🤭 So normally that’s a 12 hour eating window. I shall read the article @jwil, thank you 🌟

  • I don't have anything helpful to say about money or calorie saving at the moment (although I should be doing both) but do feel this is the place to say Tesco have started to do mixed cartons of cadbury creme eggs -- 5 = 2 x traditional CC egg, 2 x caramel egg & 1 x white creme egg or 10 = 5 x creme egg & 5 x caramel creme egg.

We are getting ready to start TRE next week, though will be eating more healthy options at the same time. We are doing the 10 hour eating window (book is 'The 10 hour diet') so 14 hours fasting planned from 8pm to 10am then meals allowed. We also intend to use basic principles of the Traffic Light Diet for meals, just to stop me thinking I can spend my 10 hour eating window stuffing myself with biscuits!
Am genuinely interested to find out how it goes. I've always been curvy & yo-yo'd with my weight but find that post-menopause, it's much harder to shift it. When I was younger to I could shift pretty much a stone in the first month & 2lbs per week after that. Now, losing a lb a week would be an achievement.
It's true that it takes ages to shift but goes on in the mere twinkling of an eye. A bit like racking up debts......

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Thank you….I actually have 2 left from a box in the fridge 🤭🤭🤭

  • @foxgloves extra good luck. And yes I used to be able to drop weight much easier. Even a pound a week is incredibly hard now. All the trackers think we should lose more, but it just doesn’t happen!
