@Deni_debt-free_dreamer there’s a mortgage free wannabe thread? I need to join…for the next 10 yrs, sigh.
I love most of the Jane Eyre’s, so very tempting. It was the first grown up book I ever read.Definitely recommend around the world, but we have to wait for episode 3 ☹️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

we have had 8 years left on our mortgage when our offer ended. So decided to double up to pay it off in 4 years. We actually paid it off just before I was 50. It was a surreal feeling, to know we would have a permanent roof over our heads whatever happened. Would encourage anybody who is in a position to overpay, save or whatever to pay off their mortgage early to do it.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.002

I agree there is nothing quite like owning the whole of the roof over your head, the only way they can take it off you is if you don't pay the freeholder, so I bought that too. The difference in reaction to a redundacy threat before & one after was astounding. I felt like Mel Gibson in Braveheart shouting FREEDOM.

I have about 9 and a half years I think. It should end just before I’m 61. I have started overpayments, but only for the last 3 months and they are only about 30-50 per month so far. I hope to increase that as we go and when the current deal ends in 4 and a half years we’ll try and condense the last 5 years. The overpayments should help with that, although they are a drop in the ocean just now.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

That's actually a really good overpayment as a regular one! My over payments were minuscule I just paid off the odd pennies and occasionally the odd pounds to round my current account down but I did it on a daily basis so it didn't seem as though I was overpaying, if that makes sense. It shortened the mortgage term a bit but not as much as I would have liked. So your overpayments are not a drop in the ocean!

Good morning and happy Wednesday 🍫📚☕️🎄
I was dreaming I’d been all around the supermarket and then realised I’d forgotten to put my mask on….the things that count as stress now were unheard of a few years ago!
I think I need to take stock of the freezers and cupboards today so I can get a limited food order. We have one on Friday and then it’s a bigger gap of 9 days before we can get the deliveries back to the normal weekly schedule. we need to eat healthier again, but also factor in weird shifts and separate meal times when MrWW is back on 12 hr shifts in the new year…what a pain. He’s wanting to avoid bread, so not being able to take sandwiches will be hard.Today I plan to write the birthdays, etc. In my new calendar and tackle some crochet. So far I’ve done a messy line…I need to get to grips with stitches and counting!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday filled with happiness and all good things ☕️📚🍫☕️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Morning WinterWarrior and friends
I have just checked my mortgage balance; i'm in a fixed rate deal that ends in July 22. I don't think it will be worth signing up to another deal as i feel i could pay it off in 2 years from now max. That may be ridiculously optimistic so i need to look properly at my finances and budget later...
It is rainy here but i am meeting my friend at a NT place later on. If necessary we will stay in the cafe and eat our picnic in one of our cars .
I watched most of Jane Eyre yesterday and it was indulgent bliss
have a lovely day everyoneLBM - October 2018; finally debt free on 16 March 2021

One food I could not live without is bread. Could have toast for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and toastie for tea. My DH would say that about giving up something but would not come up with any alternatives, just expect me to deliver.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.001
