I use my Tesco club card points to buy magazines on subscription. I like to read them in the bath so an online one wouldn’t work for me. I’ve always loved books and magazines since I was old enough to read, I think I started off with Twinkle then Princess Tina/Jackie/Look Now/Just 17 as I got older.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

@Sun_Addict Oh Twinkle! I loved Twinkle. I also loved Just 17 and of course Smash Hits for the posters! I remember fondly our yearly seaside holiday where we would get a summer special each and then swap and read each other’s for maximum value. There was a Misty annual I got on holiday in a cheapy shop that I read about a million times with a spooky (true) story about Glamis castle where they hung towels or sheets at each window and there were a number of windows left unaccounted for!Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good morning and happy Sunday 🧁
I don’t have much planned today, but it won’t be an NSD. Something I bought on Amazon (cat box) has now been refunded as they’ve decided it was out of stock (don’t you hate that!) so I need to get a dearer in stock model.I am now reading the first Fox and O’Hare book by Janet Evonavich and Lee Goldberg (think that’s the right spelling). I loved all the Stephanie Plum books by J E so I’m hoping this will be as good. I got a 3 box set, so I’ll know if it’s worth continuing after that. Hopefully it was £5.99 well spent.
have a wonderful day 🍫Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy Sunday to you too. I have books on my shelf ready for when I actually have time to read them. I have Olive Kitteridge which I started then didn't finish so I need to go back to it. My friend bought it for me and I have a bit of a problem with books that people give to me while saying "Oh you must read this". I like to choose my own.... I have a Barbara Erskine book but hers scare me a little and I like to be able to walk round my house in the dark without thinking that something is going to jump out and get me. I did read Eleanor Olliphant but that was because I bought it for myself and read it before my friend handed another copy over saying that I had to read it. I have a mini bookcase for books that want to read and bigger shelves downstairs for ones that I've read but want to keep. They all need a good clear out!1

Enjoy your day. I've got the Stephanie Plum series to read on my kindle. I've read the odd one here and there in the past, but want to read them in order at some point."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1

@CRANKY40 I can’t read books other people choose either! It feels really ungrateful, but I can barely read the back cover of a book I’ve not chosen, wether it’s passed on or a gift 😞 I used to read Barbara Erskine, but she got a bit samey and I stopped getting the newer ones.@jwil I’m glad you managed to get the plums on kindle. I couldn’t find the earlier ones so had to get paperbacks up to about 8 or 9 and then over to kindles. I read them in order all at once and have no 28 on pre order, but oddly that’s not on kindle either. I was late to the party with jack reacher too so read loads of those in order, one after the other until I caught up. I love it when that happens. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

@WinterWarrior I may have had the Barbara Erskine one for some time.... I looked up the plum books to see what you were talking about and I like the sound of them. I'm out on Wednesday with the teens and I'm allowed to go into a bookshop so I'll have a look then buy them cheaper online if I fancy them.1

@CRANKY40 I found them by accident by watching a film of the first one on Netflix. It was one for the money, with Katherine Heigl. I really enjoyed it so searched for the book. The earlier ones were quite hard to find, but I did enjoy reading them in order. They are light and funny and easy to read. She did a spin off with one of the bit characters (Diesel) which had a bit of magic in and they were good too, just not enough of those. I can’t remember the names of those of the top of my head, it I’ll look them up if anyone needs the details 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy Monday....back to work, sigh 😖
I am aiming for an NSD today...number 12. Most days should be NSDs for the rest of the month really to keep me on track. Yesterday was a bit spendy as I got a new version cat box (just for sleeping in inside, like a square cosy box...some like them better than the fluffy nests. We have one and there is sometimes bickering over who gets it. They are house cats so have plenty of towers and beds and nests to fight over). Then realised we were running out of kitchen roll, so ordered that and toilet paper. We’ve been buying in bulk for nearly 2 yrs now. I’m not sure it’s cheaper, but it’s good quality Amazon Presto brand, saves messing around adding it to the regular shop and it’s nice having a stock in. Each order tends to last a good 5 months. This is something that I pay for, like the regular order of coffee beans and vitamins, and of course the astronomical pet food, the rest of the food is done by MrWW. I will set up a pot for it now I’ve remembered, so I don’t need to raid other pots next time that it’s running low.
I hope everyone has a good day ☀️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

@beanielou I just recently tried selling an Millennium Beanie on fleabay. Not one bite. It ended up going to the charity shop.
@Sun_Addict you have taken me back to my teenage years with mention of the old magazines. I loved Just 17 and Smash Hits. More recently I was buying Take a Break but it was so depressing every week and also Closer which was all Z-list celebs showing off their latest diets and what's in their fridge. I gave up and stopped buying. I got more from a 99p kindle book than spending it on a magazine.
Last week I did manage a small stop in the charity shop and picked up 3 books. I listen to the Jenny Eclair podcast and have just read her book "inheritance" and now have a couple more. Also enjoying Graham Norton's novels too. There's a book I want to try called Klara And The Sun by Kashou Ishiguro but think I'm going to see if I can get it at the library. - Just logged on whilst typing this message and reserved it. I'm #110 in the queue!! 🤦♀️ Oh well, it's not like I don't have enough to be getting on with.
