  • Good morning and happy Thursday ☕️🍫📚🍰
I hope you are all well.
Yesterday was very busy at work, so I’m hoping today will have a bit of breathing space so I can catch up.
Money wise I feel like I’m already limping along until payday and have the boiler bill looming over everything until it arrives and I can see the damage! I think I didn’t pull enough out of savings to cover the coffee machine,  because I’m worrying about the plumber bill, which has left me with nothing for the month. I may have to bite the bullet and take a bit more so I have a survivable amount…we shall see. I do have 2 Christmas presents sorted so that’s something. I realise my savings problems aren’t real problems though and I’m so grateful I don’t have debt for anything, apart from the mortgage. I just need to be extra careful I don’t fall back into that in years to come and need to put back anything I use for emergencies like boiler repairs and (coughs) coffee machines 😳
I hope you all have wonderful Thursdays full of coffee, chocolate, books and whatever keeps you going ☕️📚🍫🍁

A bean to cup coffee machine is absolutely MSE friendly! You can use it as an excuse to buy cheap coffee beans and save money. The happiness it brings you shall be well worth it.

Thanks capuchin. We are replacing a dying one with exactly the same de’longhi model as we love it so much and use it constantly. I get my beans on repeat order from amzn, they are the cheapest likeable ones we’ve found after a lot of trial and error 😁

Which are you getting? I have the De Longhi ESAM 4200 - It's also on the way out unfortunately and on the replacement list for when I can afford it! Stupid thing makes about 2 cups and then jams up again forever and just doesnt do anything but whirr when you press the button. And it seems to cost £350 not £225 these days! Gotta wait for black friday and see if anything comes up.

I was having about 5 mugs [of fresh cappuccino] a day as I'm a total coffee addict! Can't get my favourite beans from amazon any more due to brexit, so again the price is up significantly. (I used to pay around £25 for 6kg of fresh Italian beans)

All well worth it though. One of the joys in life is that first sip of coffee.
  • @capuchin the ECAM 22.360.B. The last one was a 22.360.S, but black is loads cheaper than silver for some reason. Amazn was cheaper than the de’longhi website. I kept it in my saved for later and the price has gone up and down over a few weeks. It dropped to the lowest I’d seen so I grabbed it, but I see now it’s gone back up by £9! We use the ‘long’ drink option on extra strong in a bodum cup, top it up with boiling water and milk and that gets it to the perfect strength 😁 It does also make cappuccino, but you have to faff with the milk thingummy.

  • Glad i'm a tea drinker - a kettle & big bag of y0rkshire teabags from bee-emm is far cheaper than your coffee options!  I did own a Nespress0 machine which was a present from my ex but I only drink one coffee a day so i sold it to a colleague for a tenner !
Lovely sunny day here in the NW :)

Morning from a very windy corner of Kent. I’m making my very first Bundt cake, got a silicon mould for 50p in one of many charity shops in our village. It’s cooking away smelling gorgeous.

i think your coffee machine is a good investment, you’re worth it 😀

I won a nespresso machine, but the drinks always seemed too cold and a bit odd. I couldn’t get on with it.

I usually go for hot blackcurrent squash in an afternoon if I need a break from the caffeine. I’ve never considered hot orange, no idea why not…
