@carolbee my friend emigrated to Oz over 30 years ago, she came back to the UK to visit family just before the pandemic started and has been stuck here ever since. She has a grandchild she hasn’t seen yet. Fingers crossed for you both it won’t be too much longer.

Trying not to build our hopes up @Sun_Addict, but it would be pretty exciting to see all of them. Not seen them for two years. Your poor friend!!

  • Good morning and happy Wednesday 🍁🎃🍫📚☕️
Almost half way through the week and nearly pay day, woo hoo!
We got through the night without a tuna incident 🥳
Having my little run down for the month, there has been a tiny improvement, but mostly I’m a broken record 😖
the good - my savings are slightly higher than at the end of September (£200)
the bad - my savings are only slightly higher than at the end of September and they should have been a lot more than this. I did pay for oil, some Christmas bits, a meal out, but that ‘should’ have been doable without hitting the savings.
the ugly - I started off with a lot more in savings and again shuffled a fair bit back out ☹️
So, a tiny improvement, but not great overall.
For November, I am rejigging my spreadsheets to keep the pots for planned spends separate to savings, so I won’t feel I’m going backwards when I need to use them. These will be for heating oil, insurance, mot & service. I will try to fill them before I need them, with a steady amount each month. After adding to these pots I hope to end November with at least £400 increase, which should be doable if I’m a bit sensible on the Christmas front!  I do have some planned spends like MrWW’s winter coat (£130), (i have loads of coats so don’t need one), my yearly Samaritans Christmas child shoebox and some presents (hopefully most) to get in front for Christmas. Hopefully these planned spends will give me the happy spend feeling, without going off track. I have left myself £200 for pocket money, which I know is loads, even if this does cover treats for both of us.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday filled with happiness and all good things. You all deserve a good day ⭐️☕️🍫📚

Happy hump day 😃 Sounds like you’ve got a good plan in place for November and you are improving even if it is slow progress. Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Morning, glad to hear no tuna on head incidents overnight. Keep going, nearly Friday.....  I’m jiggling all the savings about for if and when we can book flights .

You’re  doing  really well, gold star to you 🤩

  • Good morning and happy Thursday ☕️🍫📚🎃
One day to go until the pay day shuffle. I’ve been giving myself a good talking to about unnecessary spends. I really do need to get a grip. It will be especially hard with Christmas coming up so I need to really stick to budget. Next year I hope I’ll have a nice healthy pot, but for now anything I spend on it over the next two pay days can’t go to savings, so I’ll have to keep that in mind.
old cat has been sick over night in several places, so it was a bit of a hop skip and jump to get to the bathroom….I’m hoping MrWW will start scrubbing before I get up in 15 minutes 😬
I hope you have a truly tremendous Thursday, with a very light work load and lots of happy moments ☕️📚🍫🎃⭐️
