I used to prefer reading "real" books until I went on holiday & had to throw most of my clothes out of the suitcase to fit in the books I expected to read & I still ran out.  Then I was bought a kindle as a retirement present & I haven't looked back.  It slips in a smallish handbag & goes anywhere I may have to wait even 5 minutes which saves me getting stressed.  I buy several book sets @ 99p.  Most turn out good.  In a moment of nostalgia I bought all the LM Montgomery books (Anne of Green Gables) that someone had done for his children & decided to put on Am**** for only 1.36 & discovered that there were ones I hadn't read as a child.  It certainly can broaden your reading choices though.

I'm another who likes gin, tea, coffee and books. I like my tea and coffee hot, not lukewarm. I don't drink alone and OH can not drink alcohol due to the medication he has been on for about 15 years. I think I have found my tribe 🤗

Our library eservice has newspapers and magazines which I borrow from time to time, useful when waiting for appointments or children to finish training sessions.

nothing better than free books! I have lots to be read but lost my reading mojo over lockdown.  I used to spend my whole commute reading, now there's no commute I just don't seem to find as much time.

I too used to have to have a book cull when I ran out of space. I would give bags and bags to the charity shop. Now I’m pondering replacing all the good ones at some point on kindle (in the most money saving way I can).
@dawnybabes I have MrWW linked to mine. He hasn’t had to buy a book since and has discovered a love of fantasy he didn’t know he had. He’s slower (or dedicates less reading time) than me so when he finishes a series he asks me what’s next and I point him to the ones I know he’ll like.
I take my kindle everywhere too @badmemory ‘Just in case’.
I read at lunchtime and then in bed (for hours when I should be sleeping) and any time I can snatch out of my day.

Well done you though. Many years ago I travelled from Sittingbourne to London every weekday and I spent my commute sleeping 🤣

Books and coffee, I’ve found my tribe !   No alcohol at present as am on crutches after hip replacement two weeks ago. The two may not mix well.
