Pingit closing down

[QUOTE]
Customer Communications - Non-Barclays linked account
After careful consideration, we've made the decision to close Pingit – we'd like to thank you for using the service.
What this means on 30 June
- You'll no longer be able to access the Pingit app or use any Pingit payment services or features
What happens to your Pingit Account and any jars
- We'll close your Pingit Account and any jars you've opened
- Any scheduled top-ups to your Pingit Account or jars will be cancelled
- If you have money in your Pingit Account or jars when Pingit closes, we'll return it to the linked bank account you used to register for Pingit. <We have this as <bank name> account ending <XXXX.> This will happen within ten working days of Pingit closing – we'll send you a text message to let you know once we've done this
- If you have funds in your Pingit Account or jars, and no longer have access to the linked account above, please visit the Pingit website for details on how you can let us know your new details
- We'll provide you with a final closing statement after Pingit closes for your Pingit Account and each jar you've opened
If you have a Pingit card
- You'll be able to use your Pingit card for payments as usual until 30 June, when it will be cancelled
If you have a Pingit contactless device
- You'll be able to use your Pingit device for payments as usual until 30 June, when it will be cancelled
- We're removing the ability to activate Pingit devices in the app on 17 May. If you own a Pingit device which you haven't yet activated, but would like to, you'll need to do this by 16 May
- If you own a Pingit device which you activate before 17 May, we'll automatically credit either your Pingit Account or the jar your device is linked to, with the amount you paid for the device, plus any postage costs you paid. You'll receive the money within the first two weeks of June – we'll send you a text to let you know once we've done this
- If you own a Pingit device but don't activate it by 17 May, please read the information in the FAQs to see how you can apply for a reimbursement of the money you paid for the device
If you have a Volunteer Shopping Device
- You'll be able to use your Pingit device for payments as usual until 30 June, when it will be cancelled
- We're removing the ability to activate Volunteer Shopping Devices in the app on 17 May. If you own a Volunteer Shopping Device which you haven't yet activated, but would like to, you'll need to do this by 16 May
- Please retrieve your device from the person who's using it on your behalf by 30 June
- If you purchased a Volunteer Shopping Device at a discounted rate using your voucher code and activated it by 17 May, we'll automatically credit either your Pingit Account or the jar your device is linked to with the amount you paid for the device plus any postage costs. You'll receive the money within the first two weeks of June – we'll send you a text to let you know once we've done this
If you don't activate it by 17 May, please read the information in the FAQs to see how you can apply for a reimbursement of the money you paid for the device
If you're due a refund on any purchases made with your Pingit card, Pingit device or Volunteer Shopping Device
- As Pingit will close on 30 June, we won't be able to pay any refund due into your Pingit Account or jar after this date. You'll need to speak to the retailer to obtain a refund by a different method. Please see our FAQs for more information
If you've scheduled any continuous payments
- Any continuous payment instructions you've set up using your card or device will be cancelled on 30 June, so you'll need to make alternative arrangements to avoid missing any future payments to a payee
Disposal of cards and devices
- Search our FAQs on the Pingit website to find out how to dispose of your cards and Pingit devices in a secure and environmentally friendly way
Paym
- You won't be able to register for Paym using your Pingit Account on or after 24 June
- If you've already registered for Paym using your Pingit Account details, we'll de-register you from Paym from 24 June – we'll send you a text message to let you know once we've done this. You'll need to sign up again with a different Paym provider to continue to receive Paym payments
If you're using Pingit Giving
- Any active Giving pages you've created will close on 30 June. You might like to let your contacts know that they have until then to donate to your page
- All donations received to your page by 30 June will be made to your chosen good cause
We're here to help

Never really saw the point in Pingit, to be honest. I only ever used it as a way to deposit money into a bank account using a debit card.

Hopefully this means they finally start supporting Googlepay as an elderly family member refuses to change banks but get annoyed with the lack of reliability and functionality of the Barclays app alternative.0
