Hello,
So, I’ve gone to my car this afternoon to find some nice persons dinted my rear number and done one!.
the damage isn’t huge, but it’s bad enough, and noticeable.

I’ve had 3 quotes to repair so far. Two of which say I’ll need an entire new bumper (they come spray painted from Ford). Both have said I’m looking upwards of £750.
the other quote I have had says that the two previous quotes are ridiculous and that they can just heat the bumper up / hole and they fill it in and spray to match the paint on the car. Costing £240...: so much cheaper
the reason I’m on here seeking advice is just so I can squire independent opinions and thoughts.

The steel bar which is behind the bumper is not damaged either as I’ve had that looked at - well, from going under the car.
ive attached a photograph of the damage

You can get it repaired but may fail in the future, thats why they say replace bumper.
I would try and get a secondhand one off ebay that isnt damaged and get that painted to match.1 -

Ohh I’m with you. So would you say even the most minor of bumps / nudges on the bumper may knock the filler / repair out- causing me to be in the same situation I am now, or worse.
Also, is £750 or more for a new bumper excessive would any of You say?

Whoever must've given it quite a whack to puncture it like that, my initial guess would be a towbar or similar. As mentioned, see if you can source a replacement bumper from ebay, you may have to get it resprayed but even that wouldn't be anywhere near the cost of a new one.1

I'm not going to say it definitely would. I'm not going to say it'd definitely be fine.
There's two issues going on there. There's the indentation, then there's a pierced hole. The indentation may be workable-out, with heat, but the hole is going to need plastic welding. Then it's going to need painting.
Certainly a lot more labour - and skill - than just swapping the skin over for a new one. Also, is £750 or more for a new bumper excessive would any of You say?
If that's what Ford charge, by the time it's fitted (and that's quick and simple), then our opinion is irrelevant.1 -

so would you say that the damage on my car, wouldn’t be fixable with heating, sanding down, filling and painting. Or it could, but MIGHT have problems later down the line. But I guess no one could tell.
what would you lot do if it was your car?0
