steviebabes said:I have just had the 'payments are changing email' for one of my lesser used accounts. If you scroll down to near the bottom it does say my name and ebay name so not a spoof. I logged into the account and there was a banner about checking/updating my details. I did this then it went on to add a bank accounts, it also askes for your date of birth. I filled in the relevant information and it was immediately accepted and an email sent saying you have now set up a direct debit. This was followed shortly by another email saying you're all set to sell.
The whole process took les than five minutes and I used the same bank account as another ebay account that moved over a couple of months ago.
I'm hoping this account will now get a £1 FVF offer this weekend. The last offer on this account was 5th March. It looks like the rollout has now started at a pace.
I got this 'update your payemnts' msg in eBay this evening and email earlier today but haven't ahd a chance to update yet. I was the one asking on the other managed payments thread whether the move to new selling hub was precursor to this, well in my case it seems it was!!
Thank you all for answering the queries with this. For me personally it's a lot of change at once so i'll probably be picking your collective brains in the near future.

If you want to shift a sofa, fridge, leftover building materials, or a bunch of old bulky stuff pronto it's great. But if you are like me and sell smaller sized more bespoke stuff and aren't bothered about holding on to it for months or possibly years if necessary until a buyer comes along, eBay is still far superior.
For example, the last things I sold on eBay (yesterday) was a used third wheel and pallet fork for a vintage Certina KF.260 pocket watch movement which is approximately 80 years old, Both these parts were bought by the same buyer, weigh far less than a gram, are about the size of a lentil and are only of use to a watchmaker or serious hobbyist who happens to have a watch with that specific movement to repair and the skills to do so, and for which he gladly paid me over £40 +shipping (to Luxembourg).
Now, what are the chances that someone right on my doorstep just happens to be in need of those, and thinks to go on marketplace to look for them?
To be honest, in my example above, eBay could charge FVF's of 60-80%, and I'd still be better off selling through them! (just lets not tell eBay that)!• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

I got the email today. Has nobody noticed that they increased the "final value fee" from 10% to 12.8% + £0.30? In their marketing speech they write There are no more PayPal payment processing fees. But in the smaller print they state the new fees. So Ebay is taking the cut from each transaction instead of Paypal. Nice little extra earner. Ok, it's slightly cheaper than Paypal, but still...

This change will be a major benefit to Ebay in one way. ATM their income from listing/seller fees comes in one big lump at the end of the month. With the new system they will get payments daily so their cash flow will be much better for them. Think of getting your salary monthly on PAYE and having to budget monthly - then multiply that by a few million! For me, it's time to find a new selling platform. I might look at Facebook Marketplace (although ATM I'm not on any "soshul medja" platforms and do not wish to partake of that minefield).0
