It appears that I will still be able to purchase using my Paypal account but I think by 31st May if I have not given them my bank account details I will not be able to list anything for sale. Some years ago a good friend, who had linked his bank account to eBay, had his account hacked and £3000 disappeared, took 6 months to get it sorted and get his stolen money back. For our own reasons there is always a healthy 4 figure balance on our only bank account, so no way will eBay or Paypal ever have details and/or access to it, so I'll have to find another selling platform/method. Annoying after 19 years on eBay.

There is very little someone can do with your bank details to get money out from you. There is much more they can do with your PayPal details.0 -

I just signed up today, (my deadline was the 30th of April).
It doesn't really suit me either as I like being paid into PayPal as that is my "free money" fund created entirely from selling all my unwanted junk, now any sales proceeds will just be absorbed into my current account balance which, certainly psychologically, is a shame.
eBay are selling this as a universal benefit, but I would imagine to many other recreational sellers this will also not be the case.
However as the number of options every seller has is "do this" or "go elsewhere" I've linked my account as asked,
Since 2001 I've probably sold over £20K of personal stuff which would have otherwise been binned or given away or sold elsewhere for a fraction of the price, so quitting out of principle would just be cutting off my nose to spite my face.
I also don't say any logic in all comments saying "I don't give my bank details to anyone". If that is the case why do you even have a bank account in the first place?• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

I have just had the 'payments are changing email' for one of my lesser used accounts. If you scroll down to near the bottom it does say my name and ebay name so not a spoof. I logged into the account and there was a banner about checking/updating my details. I did this then it went on to add a bank accounts, it also askes for your date of birth. I filled in the relevant information and it was immediately accepted and an email sent saying you have now set up a direct debit. This was followed shortly by another email saying you're all set to sell.
The whole process took les than five minutes and I used the same bank account as another ebay account that moved over a couple of months ago.
I'm hoping this account will now get a £1 FVF offer this weekend. The last offer on this account was 5th March. It looks like the rollout has now started at a pace.1 -

My little used private account has just received the message to add my bank details, I have apparently until 30th May. Decided there was no reason to wait so did it straight away, no issue at all, just like on my business account. Now to wait to see if I start getting offers next month.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
