My PC doesn't have any Bluetooth software on it already. Bluetooth doesn't show in the Admin tools, so I can't disable it.
I am reluctant to do the "Clean Boot" method - as there have been too many times in the past that I have completely screwed my PC up by trying to make it do things it doesn't want to do. I think I'll wait until Logitech come up with a new set of drivers.

guys, here is the detailed procedure that i carried out and finally suceeded last night.

    1. Delete the logitech software that you may already have tried to install by using the add/remove programme via the control panel.

    2. Download the setpoint 1.05 software from here ands SAVE it (desktop is probabaly easiest), do not run the software at this stage:

    http://input-devices.free-driver-download.com/Logitech/13344/Logitech-Bluetooth-Keyboard-and-Mouse--SetPoint-Software-1.05-Windows-2000-XP.html

    3. Do the clean boot procedure as follows
    1. Start then run and type in msconfig then press enter
    2. select selective startup and make sure the only one ticked is
LOAD SYSTEM SERVICES, evrything else should be unticked.
    3. Now go to the services tab and tick on hide all microsoft services key on the
bottom and then disable all on the following screen.
    4. Now click o.k and restart as prompted.
    4. Now whillst the computer is restarting make sure the bluetooth hub is connected to your pc by the usb cable.

    5. When the pc restarts install logitech setpoint 1.05 you downloaded preciously.

    6. The instllation is pretty strightforward....you should be prompted to install the mouse and then the keyboard ....ingore the keygboard bit by closing the window. You should be prompted to restart at some stage.

    7. If the installation has gone succesfully you should see the bluetooth sign on your taskbar and my bluetooth places icon should have appeared on your desktop.

    8. The final stage is to go into msconfig menu again and this time seect normal startup and this should return your computer to nornal. You will need to restart.

I did all the above and now can use my samsung D500 quite easily to transfer things.

Before anyones asks i have windows xp service pack 2.

REV....as to your question i dont know why your software freezes on you. When i installed i never needed to wait longer then a minute or two for something to happen. Have you compleded deleted everything and tried from scratch.

Anyway my fingers are hurting from all this typing!!!! good luck :.)

It might not be freezing....On my machine, the Logitech "Please Wait" splash screen loaded itself in front of the "Found New Hardware" window, which was waiting for a prompt from me. As soon as i managed to drag it out and press "Next", it installed fine.
It's still very buggy to install, but it's working at the moment.....

Mine installed and the bluetooth worked fine with my phone - but upon every reboot the Logitech Connection Wizard popped up in the middle of the screen. It installs the mouse then asks for me to connect the keyboard (which I don't have) so I click the X to close. Everything seems fine until the next boot where it all happens all over again.

I've tried for 5 hours to find a way to get it to stop - but theres no way - it doesn't appear in the windows startup list. I ended up reinstalling the latest setpoint.

    No bluetooth for me then.

actually i might have the same problem......funny think is it didn`t do that the first few times, but now i`ve just started the pc and it has done what you`ve described above....if it persists might have to say if there is any way of stopping it.

    regards

I must say Logitech are pretty naff if they havent addressed this problem. SP2 has bene out for over 6 months now as they must have been aware of this problem long before that as manufacters have pre release version of updates long before consumers do.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

I agree with that, but Logitech do have a reasonable reputation, don't they?
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Having the same problems myself, managed to get it to install with the instructions pre-reg gave (thanks) and also using another mouse for a second to get rid o the windows 'found new hardware'.

Will we ever get these damn things working as they should lol.

After trying to get mine going for 5 or 6 hours on 3 PC's including calls to Logitech and microsaft I sent mine back to the guy I bought it from on ebay.

He has just given me a refund.
