Could someone possibly give me a little advice… I have spoken with hmrc who are giving me a multitude of different responses… in April I completed my tax return…. As it was continually sat at pending I live chatted to ask why and they had sent out a I.d letter which needed to be returned. So I filled in all information they requested and posted the letter… I then went onto hmrc portal to see my pending repayment had completely disappeared was told this was due to waiting a response from letter… so now we are in September and the figures have still not reappeared I have looked at progress of my form and it states being processed… has anyone had being processed then completed if so what was the time scale? I can’t claim the 5th grant as this letter has triggered a security alert so the letter will need to be dealt with before I can claim and the cut off point for 5th grant is very soon… all web chat are saying is we can’t give you a date you will have a response/outcome at some point. It’s absolutely infuriating thank you in advance for reading.

I submitted my tax return 16th April and it sat in pending until the end of May when I recieved the letter requesting all the information. I sent the letter back and they recieved it on 6th June but I didn't recieve my payment until Monday last week. All in all it took around 5 months from start to finish to sort out but I did complain so that may or may not have sped up the process at the end worth a shot tho

Thank you for response what’s puzzling is that the repayment is not showing at all.. as stated above they did say it was removed until I.d etc was returned and dealt with… I find it strange as everyone else’s was sat still pending… however I did place a complaint last week it was recieved but doesn’t state work has started yet .

I was told in the letter that my pending payment would be removed from my account while they were dealing with my response but it never did it just sat on pending until it was issued

I managed to get through on the webchat yesterday somehow.

Returned my SURF2 and other security documents etc. on August 6th and it said on the tracker "estimated to be processed by August 27th"

Given it's over 2 weeks since then I asked them when I could expect things to be processed and the responder said hopefully some time between now and 29th October, can't give any exact dates.

Really not sure what's going on over there, are they short staffed?

Short staffed due to covid  restrictions/isolation/lack of child care, the same as the rest of us.

Extra work load to deal with furlough payments, grants, extra security checks to prevent fraudulent claims.

I put in my tax return on the 20th of may , bank payment pending on the 21st of may .. waited weeks .. got a letter on the 2 of July .. returned it with documents requested and was received on the 7th of July .. it says received on the 7th and estimated conpletion is July 28 on my portal .. a month later changed to being processed and completion is august 20 .. days later changed to august 27 for completion…  and that’s the last I heard .. it’s  September 24 and still no refund or issued date .. I’m confused

Does anyone no precisely after the surf 2 letter has been received the timescale to get a reply ,.from the date it says received on July 7 .. line is on its 7th week after portal said form received
