I similarly had been struggling for ages to find the right pillows. I'd bought some expensive ones from Soak and Sleep (both a down one, and a feels like down one), and was massively unimpressed!
I eventually bought a "Brightr Stella" pillow which I really like! It's adjustable, so you can set it to the right height for yourself. I actually only bought one of their pillows but have been able to split out the filling to use in two separate pillow protectors + pillowcases. I'd definitely recommend it1 -
I am so pleased I started this thread to find a decent pillow. It's surprising how finding the right pillow can make your quality of sleep so much better!
I also have a speaker that goes inside the pillow so I can listen to podcasts at night and fall asleep. If I can't sleep then I learn something, and if I fall asleep then yay!
Mr Pinkshoes is not so keen on my under pillow speaker and claims he can still hear it, but as he sleeps through anything then it's tough!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Definitely worth going into the shops to have a feel which pillow would work best and also, I find sometimes reading reviews of different ones give an idea also.
With regards to a good night sleep, I find that some form of exercise helps,
I also find that a dark room and sometimes opened window (fresh air) helps.

I have spent a fortune on pillows over the last couple of years trying to find a solution to my constant headaches, ( high blood pressure was the cause…who knew.?) I eventually ended up with a tempur pillow, I’m not normally a fan of memory foam , and indeed, at first, I found it rather unforgiving and hard, removing the pillowcase solved this and it’s now very comfortable, there’s different pillows for side and back sleepers, and it will be very difficult to recommend a particular one as we’re all different.1

Like most ex Armed Forces bods (even administrators take part in 'war' exercises!) Mr S and I used to be able to sleep on anything.
Now we are older we certainly appreciate our home comforts. Harrison mattress and John Lewis own brand shaped superfoam pillows are doing the trick for us. The pillows are a few years old now, but as they came with their own covers, over which I use a pillow protector and pillowcase, they should be good for a while longer2 -
I wish I had seen this thread when I was searching a year ago.
I ended up buying a Kudd.ly adjustable pillow. I love it. You remove the foam pieces inside to the depth that suits you. It means depending on how much grief my neck/back is giving me I can remove/increase the memory foam to suit my current pain and hopefully relieve it.
It was the first of its kind I came across after spending a fortune over the years1
