Honestly I dare not say how old my Dunlopillo latex pillow is and it has been and still is fantastic. Since new, it has always had a pillow case on it, then the pillow protector, then the pillow case I actually lie on. I bought a new one within the last couple of years but I don't feel as though it is as comfortable as the old one. I did read that Dunlop changed the makeup of them but I don't know how true this is, but my experience tells me the new one is definitely different to my old one. Having said all that, they are far from cheap and I think I paid circa £60. Its called Dunlop Serenity. I don't sleep well either, but it's because I can't switch they grey matter off!!!!

I’ve got a Tempur Cloud pillow which I’ve had for a good few years now. It’s definitely worth the money but it is quite soft and I’m considering getting the harder version for my next pillow.
Pillows are a very personal thing though. I’d suggest going to a shop and testing some out before buying.1 -
For those whose minds race when they are trying to sleep have you tried writing down what is on your mind? It really does help"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "2

Agree with sammyjammy, I have a pen and paper on the side. Pillows I cannot recommend, however, I have become quite evangelical in my family about a weighted blanket. I still consider myself a poor sleeper regards quantity but the blanket has revolutionised the quality of sleep.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.2

pinkshoes said:I have insomnia. Getting to sleep and staying asleep are not my thing. But even worse I seem to do battle with my pillow most nights because it never feels comfy.
Can anyone recommend a DECENT pillow? Mine is just a cheapish Silent Night one. Are the "posh" ones really worth the money?
I'm seeing the Emma pillow, Simba, and various others. I've had a reaction to feather pillows before so it will probably have to be a synthetic one.
Has anyone bought any of these and either loved or hated them?
£100 seemed a lot for a pillow but probably not if it is comfy given I spend 8 hours a day in bed!,sorry only kidding ,but have you tried alcohol ? used to work wonders for me ,slept like a log but not good for your health.

when i was a kid, it was packing for a camping trip, which is really strange as i have never been camping! recently, it is about cycling along a long road that runs along the beach. seems to do the trick but it is so frustrating when you just can't fall off to sleep.
i did try counting sheep before and that did work but it can sometimes make me anxious when i have got up to a very high number of sheep and i am still awake!2 -
I used to get through a lot of different pillows but ages ago i bought a Spelt pillow, i find it very good and wished that i had bought two at the time. They are quite expensive i think now.1

Waunakee said:We have the Tempur Cloud pillows....husband and son love them but I have never been able to get on with mine (like sleeping with your head on a rock) and reverted to cheap supermarket ones which suit me just fine.
Have you tried any of the sleep sprays? I use the This Works brand and have to say it’s totally transformed my sleeping pattern.Expensive but a little goes a long way.2 -
I've got through my share of pillows ... at one time I had a latex shaped one called a neck pillow but I had to have a thin one on top. Then I went on to two normal pillows.
Now I have a memory foam pillow, wasn't cheap but came from CostCo. I like it, DH hates it but he's always too warm on a memory foam mattress.
For those who get too hot, Dad had a cooling pad which went inside the pillowcase. Again, DH hates it, doesn't work for him.
And when I found sleep elusive, I had a pillow speaker which sits flat under my pillow and enables me to listen to a relaxation track. Rarely hear the end of it ...
Although now, DH has Radio 4 / the World Service on low volume all night to mask his tinnitus. That sends me off too!Signature removed for peace of mind1
