    mser's

Very fast response to UC Work Capability form recently.
    I've been officially made LCW/WRA
I'm asking via Journal, does this mean standard UC timescales continue.

    thanks appreciated

Great news. Not sure what you mean by that ^^.
The LCWRA element is payable from the 4th month after you reported your health condition, providing you sent a fit note within 7 days and continued to send them without any gaps. When it's paid from will depend on what date you reported your health condition and the dates of your assessment periods.
You will also now have the work allowance which means that a certain amount of money will be ignored before the 55% deductions apply. If you claim for help with the rent it will be £344 if you don't then it's £573 per month. Any earnings above this will reduce your UC by 55%. You may also be owed some extra money because of the work allowance.
It often takes a few weeks for them to work out how much money is owed (if any) because first they have to recalculate your past statements, once this is done you'll receive a letter on your journal telling you how much they owe you.

    uc lcwra form completed today.
Last advice was 6-8 months application time.

For some areas you can increase that to about a year, yes it's crazy i know but the backlogs are extremely huge.
    it's been since June '21.

If this was when you sent your first fit note, then the LCWRA element is payable from either October/Novemeber 2021. Depending on the exact date you sent the fit note and the dates of your assessment periods. The work allowance will apply from the assessment period in which you sent your fit note.
I know you reported your health condition when you started your claim but the delay in sending the fit note will mean a loss of a few months money.

    thanks Poppy

I'm honestly not sure what this means in monetary terms, though thanks for sharing your knowledge.
    I only appreciate I earn 9650 p.a. on 20hrs p/w work.

So once UC do their Calculation's, I'm mow not waiting another few months.
Ive no idea about Mortgage Interest help, this is another 9 months wait.

Thankfully my wtc redress payments continue until they see any UC payment being paid, though stops from 1st UC payment.

This UC App seems very quicker, is that because I hae M.S. since 2012.

    thanks appreciated.

Your first LCWRA payment will be in your next UC payment. You will then continue to receive this going forward each month.
UC isn't based on yearly earnings like tax credits was. It's based on earnings receive each assesment period (month)

Unfortunately, you will not be able to claim Support for Mortgage interest (SMI) because of your earnings. To qualify for this you need to be claiming UC for 9 consecutive months with zero earnings. See link. https://www.gov.uk/support-for-mortgage-interest/eligibility

You've been extremely lucky to have had a decision so quick after returning the form. Some people are waiting several months and more. It sounds like they did a paper based assessment because they had enough of information.

£9650 PA earnings is £804/month Your UC will look like this..
    Standard allowance over 25 - £334.91
    LCWRA element £354.28

work allowance £573 so earnings up to this amount will be ignored, anything over that then the 55% deductions apply. £231 x 0.55 = £127 deduction.
Total amount UC payable is £562.19 per month. If your earnings fluctuate then so will your UC payments. The figures quoted are the new April 2022 amounts, which will apply from May or June 2022. Before this your UC will be slightly less.

Good news indeed, you should have a rather nice backpayment - the work allowance will be applied back to the first month you started handing in fit notes, so it looks like there will be some UC entitlement for the first three months before the LCWRA element was applicable too.

The quick, seemingly paper-based decision is a pleasant surprise.  Somebody did their jobs properly, there!

Missed this part. As you're owed money from UC dating back to June 2021 then you could have an overpayment of tax credits so please be aware of that.

My reply wasn't added correctly last night.
Thanking mser's for their advice and calculations through this post.

The only dates mentioned from yesterday's UC info was running from March to April 22'
I think this will be 1st UC payment, not any back Payment.

    UC statement date 27/04/22.
    • 1 May 2022 you will be paid the first half
    • 15 May 2022 you will be paid the second half

The amount you get is based on your circumstances from 25 March to 24 April 202

Forgot to ask those two parts, does this mean I've chosen fortnightly payments.

    thanks

Yes, you've asked for your payments to be twice a month, rather than once a month. It means your total amount will be split in half.
The dates above refer to your first payment of LCWRA which as advised would be added to your next payment.

backdated money is always paid separately but before they can pay you they will need to recalculate your past statements, to work out exactly how much is owed. Those new statements will replace your current ones. Once this is done you'll receive a letter onto your journal telling you exactly how much is owed. Once it's paid it takes 3-5 working days to go into your bank.
