So Rock doors are about £2500 and their claim to fame is that even the police cant bash them in. I at one point lived in the !!!!!! end of Birkenhead and even i didnt need one of those.0

Many years ago I owned a house where the door opened outwards...it was the only exit.
One night we had heavy snow and I couldn't open the door...had to phone my Dad to dig me out!5 -
Id talk to my insurance company before id do anything.0

I don't think outward opening doors are intrinsically dangerous. The householders opening the door to visitors can open it slowly and warn the person outside if they wish. In Scandinavia doors often open outwards and they allow hall space to be used right up to the door on the hinge side if wished.

On a totally unrelated point we've noticed that doors in the US open outwards rather than inwards.0

Also quite popular in Scandinavia.gettingtheresometime said:On a totally unrelated point we've noticed that doors in the US open outwards rather than inwards.0 -
There are many occasions over the last year of having more home deliveries that I'd have been trapped in my house by a heavy box (everything from garden furniture to crates of beer) on the front step if my front door opened outwards, particularly since most of the delivery services seem to pile it up to take their photo as proof of delivery then scarper.0

What about people knocking on the door? Most will be expecting the door to open inwards so will be standing reasonably close. Might be a bit awkward as they have to shuffle back out of the way as you carefully open the door to make sure you're not slamming it in their face?katy123 said:the door will open onto our front drive not road, apologies
Lots of scope for comedy though ! And imagine the "oh sorry MIL I didnt think you would standing there again since the last time I broke your nose"
