I've answered my own question in that if you wanted funds to come from your current account, funds had to be available before you can proceed with the application logged in.

On the subject of being logged in, this occasion was as expected in that details were pre-populated (except NI number).  @JGB1955 - is this because you've held an ISA with Nationwide previously?

Applying for transfer-in from an external provider resulted in having to complete what appeared to be a fresh application?

Are there many who've applied pre and post April 6th - ie. two accounts?

Yes - I've had (more than) a couple of ISAs with Nationwide, so that makes sense.

So from what I understand, to get the £50 cashback, you wouldn't be able to open an ISA today with an external provider, to then transfer it, as Nationwide are saying it has to be a transfer which wasn't part of this tax year?
Is this true? Where does it say this please?

Its this badly worded condition - which implies you can only transfer in a current tax year funded ISA - but the actual application process allows you to transfer in prior tax year funds. I just think its poor wording - and it doesn't mean what it says literally - as most people now will be transferring in prior year funds.

You can’t open this account if you’ve:

    • already used up your ISA allowance this tax year – whatever the type of ISA you’ve paid into
    • paid into a cash ISA with another provider this tax year, unless you’ll be transferring that ISA into this account.

To those who've gone through the whole process of transferring in from another provider, I'm just curious as to whether you've received any emails during the whole process?

    Initial application confirmation?  Progression?  Completion?

Beyond the application reference when I do it online I have heard nothing else - not even an email acknowledgement. But I expect they are overwhelmed with applications and Easter will have delayed any post.

I can't see any reference to only being able to hold/open one of these - it says you can only get one £50 cashback payment but is that in total or per ISA account?
The terms and conditions wording really could have been improved!

I don`t intend to transfer any existing ISA i have to NW.
All I want to do is deposit an amount of money and get the .75%
It seems from what I`ve read on here that I will need to gather the said amount and do a transfer of the money in one single transaction to NW.
    Don`t think I`ll bother.
