I have an abscess in the root of the newly crowned tooth. I knew it wasn't quite right so I did exactly what the dentist told me to do and went to see him, fortunately before it started to hurt. But - extreme GRRRRRR. Now on a course of antibiotics which have to be taken four times a day and I can't eat for 1 hour before and 2 hours afterwards which makes timing meals tricky. *sigh* More £££, and two more dental visits booked. Pam Ayres springs to mind; it's entirely my own fault.Four loads through the WM and out on the line, dog walked on the most beautiful day of the year so far, massive houseplant watered thoroughly, printer problem fixed after months of it not working properly, various bits and pieces around the house dealt with. I'm now going up to the attic to get a very large amount of paperwork down to be sorted and *flung*. I am going to create a vast amount of space in that attic over the next few weeks. We've hung on to so much stuff 'just in case we ...' and because, ' ... that cost £ ....' Four boxes worth, to be exact, in the first tranche. If it's been up there in excess of 20 years we clearly don't need it.Huge congratulations Dancemum on the interview and good luck with it. They'd be lucky to have you.GI - you haven't failed. You've been extremely busy and done as much as you could, but we all feel it's never enough.Piggers, I've looked up the local hospice and they're taking donations at the back of their biggest shop from 30 March, but they don't open any of their actual shops until 12 April, and a maximum of four boxes of donations from any one household. (They appparently do take underwear but not breadmakers!!) I don't know how any organisation is going to deal with people who haven't been, can't or don't want to be vaccinated but that's going to be an on-going issue for quite some time, I think.Better is good enough.8

Apparently employers will be allowed to refuse to employ people who haven't had the jab.. and it is going to have to be reported in passports if you've had it or not which is insanity.. but no time limit on any of this. In a couple of years it will all just be a normal part of snot season and barely recognisable. It has happened before and no doubt will again. I just wondered if the shops were going to refuse to accept volunteers who had not had it. Mine have not, one refused and the other is too young to have been offered it. I am just having the older 2 volunteer their services.. it may give their days routine and incentive for them to find paid employment but it is also about learning new skills and socialising.. Plus I am sick of them being under my feet! One has worked in a CS before, he got scabies.. lol ... he liked the work and routine but hated the store manager and the practices of the charity were a little immoral.Honey_Bear said:Piggers, I've looked up the local hospice and they're taking donations at the back of their biggest shop from 30 March, but they don't open any of their actual shops until 12 April, and a maximum of four boxes of donations from any one household. 11 boxes of gibble down from the attic, stuff sorted, four boxes labelled for the CS on 30 March, three labelled for the scrapstore, and all of the rest is paperwork. The paperwork stack is a metre high and packed solid, so I'll be working my way through that for the rest of today and tomorrow. It won't be fun but it'll almost all be for recycling, very little will go back up to the attic - I got a wheelie recycling bin a couple of weeks ago just for this job so it's going to be pressed into service. The top container is just under 6" high and my ambition is that everything I need to keep will fit into it, with each folder clearly marked with the date it can be *flung*. No more going through stuff over and over again - I've had enough of trying to organise clutter and I've finally accepted that clutter can't be organised, all I've been doing for years is moving it from one place to another. I've had enough of wasting my time like that. The bonus is I now have a clear walkway in the attic between stacks. Yes - there are more stacks up there, a lot of stacks. I only brought down what I thought I could smuggle past Belovéd and get gone asap. Most of the rest will be coming down over the next few months and headed in the same direction. I can't believe I got rid of a cubic metre of stuff a few years ago. Where does all this crap come from?Better is good enough.8

Before work I cleaned the woodburner out, hung some washing out to dry, made the beds, went to the bottle bank and damp dusted the living room.
Paid stuff done now, kids playing outside, I've made an admin phone call and I'll start dinner shortly. I WILL mop the floors before I go up to bed - I've said it here so I just have to do it! Love to all x9 -

HB you are really on a role, my loft is full of exactly the same categories but also has I want to keep it because of the memories.
Internet went down for 3 hours so could not continue with the paid stuff, did a load of flying and went to Mr M to do a food shop, also been to the hygienist. Just cooking dinner, will update my list and then do a few hours of the paid stuff this evening.
Valli hope you got on ok with your appointment. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair9 -

Oooh well done Dancemum, as for what to wear I can guarantee that so long as you are smart and tidy no-one will notice. I interviewed staff just before Christmas and the only one where I can remember his clothes was wearing jeans, scruffy trainers and a hoodie!
Thanks Fayolle that means a lot. He needs to live his life. Deep down I have this irrational feeling that if I can keep him close I can stop him getting poorly again, but I know it doesnt work like that, and its lovely to see him so excited about getting his own space again.
Just off back into a meeting, 9 hours at the paid stuff yesterday, but thats OK, I might take some time off tomorrow. House is reasonably clean and tidy, I have just run the hoover around upstairs.

Only Tuesday and I'm off list already. The day started calmly but has escalated with a sudden load of actual work; will be nice to get back to it and interesting to do the new routine once I have found my way through all the different procedures i.e. instead of getting paperwork in order I have to make sure the Zoom microphone isn't squealing at the USB camera microphone, and the digital software hasn't timed out and begging for another pass code to be sent....
Anyway I went for a run this morning, only short just in case I keeled over and actually I got pretty tired, but at least I've done that I can't recall who was having their jab today but hope it went well.
Filled bird feeder.
Cut Mr N's hair.
Did a practice assessment with Mr N on the laptop in another room to make sure I could work everything. Made copious notes.
I must have done something else other that lots of emails/printing/organising but I just can't recall what.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10
