    Thanks for providing the update.
There is a sense of deflation when the cancellation does not give reason or accept error.
Did the Council ever provide photos with the ticket, or was it cancelled for some other evidence / procedural mistake?  Maybe they just sent the ticket following complaint but did not actually look on site - was the ticket by post or attached to the windscreen?
  • If they've cancelled it they sound like a sensible council.  If their photos showed the same as yours then they were never going to win unless you rolled over and just paid up.

They'll never admit they were wrong though.

Quick update, they've cancelled the PCN. No explanation, just a letter saying something along the lines of; "after reviewing your challenge, we have decided on this occasion to cancel the charge".

I find it funny how the wording implies that I'm being done a favour. My challenge was quite literally "can someone explain what I've done wrong here? Thank you".

My guess is someone complained and the council tried their luck.

I've had council issued PCNs cancelled in the past too and seem to remember the response being a generic 'ticket has been cancelled'.   Never mind, good result and thank you for letting us know what happened.

Many thanks for the update, appreciated. I would have understood if you had not bothered to update after everything that was said here which was completely unnecessary.
