then lots of holidays taking your home to interesting places around the coats every year
  • Obviously one could store his tiny house on his own land with a cover over it when not in use

just use it for holidays within the legal limit

if someone occupied it under covers would be hard to tell

That's very sweet. how do you plan to move it, exactly?
There's a good reason why touring caravans are the size and construction they are, it keeps them within the towing limits for PLG-class vehicles. I would also suggest that, weight and structural integrity concerns aside, its aerodynamics are not really ideal for towing.
I do wonder whether you're getting a bit carried away here. I know you're planning your retirement. Have you and your wife ever owned a caravan and spent any amount of time in it? If you've been keen caravanners for the past 20 years you'd know these things.

The tiny house movement is picking up speed around the world

there is lots of info on all your questions

there are more and more people fed up of high tents and being locked into a mortgage deciding to go Tiny😁

  • I mean hi rents not tents 🤣
  • These tiny houses are so much better than a caravan these are basically a cottage on wheels

    That's all very nice.

Can you tell me exactly where I will find the answers to the specific questions:
    • Have you and your wife ever lived in a caravan, even a static one, for a period of months or years?
    • Have you ever towed a touring caravan?
If you've never caravanned before you may be unaware of all the restrictions that apply.
That particular tiny house, from that particular eBay advert, is unlikely to be suitable for towing on the road. The eBay listing even says "recomend you transport it on a low loader".
    • Do you own a low loader and the necessary HGV licence?
You have a dream, and it's good to have a dream, but if you're seriously considering this as retirement accommodation you need to start living in reality.

Tiny houses are great, they are definitely 'a thing' and the movement is picking up a lot of interest.  In several countries, including the UK, their potential as homes for homeless people is being realised and there are now several developments around and about. Unfortunately the problem is the land to site them on and I don't see any way of resolving this at the moment, particularly for individuals.  Most that I've read about, have their own land perhaps in the family,  and are able to do it that way.  I would love one!

People on here who have been seemingly critical could research it a bit before suggesting tiny home dwellers are trying to get round the law or doing something totally illegal. That's not fair on those of us who have looked into it.  But along with sideways thinking such as plotlanders, perhaps this is a way of dealing with some of the housing problems of today.

The problem is that the OP is definitely " trying to get round the law or doing something totally illegal". They are proposing to exceed the 28-day limit on camping on their own land by one means or another. If they stated they would seek planning permission and buiulding regs compliance (etc.) it would be another matter.
    Their latest suggestion:
if someone occupied it under covers would be hard to tell
... adds some additional frisson by risking injury or death through carbon monoxide poisoning, on top of everything else.

When I read that yesterday it rang a bell, and yes the council did spot the 3 bed £5000,000 house inside a hay barn, from 2011, DM link https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1374193/Couple-lose-battle-500-000-home-hid-inside-barn.html
