So he hadn't got a clue then. ;)
What software version is on the router ?
Why did you get a replacement router ?
The best way to get these problems resolved can often be through the Plusnet Community forums.

We are pursuing through Plusnet with a formal complaint who are escalating the issue with OR.

It was OR who replaced the router on the second of 4 visits.

It seems I am not alone with Plusnet problems

The Plusnet fix for this customer was to change from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz  but at cost in speed.

Changing from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz, or at least separating the bands, is only for the actual wifi and in the vast majority of uses has negligible impact on users / device use.  Many devices do not like SSID sharing across the 2 bands and is a recommended way to alleviate the problem across many providers and router brands.  This though does not seem to be anything to do with your particular problem.
Have you checked your router is using the latest firmware version ?
